I'm not to into the early stuff, but "The Mollusk" and "Chocolate and Cheese" are great. "The Mollusk" especially, an easy all-time favorite

Eponymous debut from some of Manchester's finest, released in 1984.

A truly original, and great band. Some of their records were slightly patchy, but this one certainly isn't. Excellently played, sung, & written.

This must stand as one of the great debuts.

I love The Smiths, but always find they're better than I expect (if that makes any sense ?!).

Great album.

A gift from CH and you hate to let a brother down, but we gotta part ways on this one. I think he gave this a 2.4 in his Beginners Guide post, loving 7 tracks, but I'm far from that. Only thing I loved here was the leadoff, I Got You, which was a #1 single in the land down under, not faring as well here at #53. This was the New Zealanders fifth album and their most successful on the charts, making #1 in the homeland and Australia with a #40 in the states. My copy of this vinyl release as described by wiki, features some [SIZE=2]wild, imaginative shapes and patterns covering the vinyl using a technique known as "laser-etching". When light hits the record, these designs would protrude and spin about the room. The album was the first to ever use this technique, originally designed to discourage the creation of counterfeit copies. All greek to me. I just play the damn thing. A collectors thing I guess.

Their debut album from 1999.

Most easily described as Radiohead copyists, or Queen for the Alternative generation.

Haven't heard this for some time, and was surprised how complete their sound is straight out of the box. Some really good songs on here.

Tenth release, from 2002.

Alternative Rock with a twist of sci-fi Psychedelia (stick that in your pipes, genre police :biggrin::biggrinSmile.

Easily their most accessible and melodic release, despite Dave Fridmann's sledgehammer to crack a nut production.

Beautiful album.

Just picked up AWOLNation - Megalithic Symphony.

Heard the single "Sail", and knew I should look into this band. I do not regret this decision - the album is on its third play through today - this is destined to be my next Gotye - (Thank-you Crazy-Horse!!)
