Politics - Music Head - 29-05-2014 rebelgirl Wrote:I used to watch Hannity alot when Alan was on with him but Sean started getting on my nerves because he would get on something and would not let go. But, like you MH I know Paul Harvey and quite often listened to what he had to say. So what news channel do you watch CNN?? I watch it once in awhile when I can't take FOX anymore. FOX gets on stories and keeps on and on with them. I thought the commentary was interesting because of what Paul Harvey had to say way back then.Usually CNN because the other 2 are just too biased then CNN drove me nuts with the plane thing a surfer in the mornings with ABC, NBC, CBS evenings I'll just see what's in the headlines on the news networks politics I prefer c-span Politics - LMD - 29-05-2014 I watched part of the clip last night. Some of it was interesting, some of it I didn't care for too much. I turned off after one of the speakers made some comment about taking God and religion out of school impacting millennials because they no longer know where to go for their "moral" issues. As a millenial who doesn't consider himself religious I'm so sick of that patronizing argument (its one that is repeated by a lot more than just the one person on that program) treating me like I'm some sort of idiot who walks around without any sense of morality or empathy because I don't read the Bible. I don't need to read a book to know that killing people is wrong. I don't need a book to tell me that raping people is wrong. I don't need a book to tell me that robbing someone is wrong. I don't need a book to tell me that brutally attacking a defenseless person is wrong. I don't need a book to tell me that discriminating against people and actively fighting for them to not have the same rights as me because I disagree with them is wrong. Its an argument that comes up way too often for my liking. Not every millenial is walking around like a lost puppy without any sense of right or wrong. We have laws based on what we believe to be right and wrong as a society. We have actions that are generally accepted by society to be right and wrong. We're not all completely clueless on everything and turning to drugs because we don't have someone reading the Bible to us in school. [/rant] Politics - Music Head - 29-05-2014 wonder what's on tv now :peep: Politics - jazzboCR - 30-05-2014 The thing of it is, with TV you get the benefit of immediacy but the loss of perspective. The Economist in my mailbox gives me perspective plus I can mark up articles and proritize the contents. Also I can read and listen to music--with TV, what can you do? The ironing? I also look at the online edition for any added material and/or clickthroughs. I'll make an exception for the PBS weeklys because opinion is respected, not shouted down. My take, anyway... My take, anyway...Excuse me jazz but who are you talking to, me? If so I don't do ironing!! I worked most of my life until I became disable. The work I have done was mostly work men do (hard labor). As far as Politics I don't limit myself. I like to hear both sides just to be fair and learn from all points of view even if I don't agree with everything said. Politics - Lovely Linda - 04-06-2014  I don't cook anymore. I'm not your typical female. BTW, my hubby used to cook when I was working  Politics - jazzboCR - 04-06-2014 rebelgirl Wrote:Excuse me jazz but who are you talking to, me?No, rebelgirl, I was talking about myself. Most of my ironing is done while watching a baseball game (thank you, instant replay) though this PM I'll do it whilst listening to that SMILE fanmix--I did promise...And I don't cook either--that's why Allah or somebody invented TV dinners and restaurants. Food is only fuel to me. Politics - SteveO - 04-06-2014 I listen to news reports and news journals on CBC Radio. Also Public Radio International. Politics - Lovely Linda - 08-07-2014 What's the deal with Hillary and Obama? I heard they are not getting along or not agreeing. Anybody know the news on this without me having to look it up or watch the news? I'm just not in the mood today but I am curious. |
