RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-09-2025 JOHNNY CASH "orange blossom special" cd 1965 his twenty-first studio album of sixty-eight, i couldnt tell you how many i own as ive never counted them, but as a guess i would say i own around half songs about prison and spirituality are the common thread here plus covers from Carter Family, Johnny Horton and Bob Dylan decent album overall, only one song i dislike, the Irish traditional folk song "danny boy" album ranks 2.1 which means I LIKE THIS ALBUM lets go for this one: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-09-2025 JOHNNY CASH "songs of our soil" cd 1959 JC's fourth studio album a collection of mostly self penned tunes with a few traditional folkies thrown in recurring theme is death, a staple for "the man in black" throughout his career love the spoken word pieces between most of the tracks also album ranks 2.4 for me which means.... I LOVE THIS ALBUM a traditional folk song he sung before the Beach Boys made it their own RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-09-2025 ![]() LINDA RONSTADT "greatest hits" (1976) and "greatest hits volume two" (1980) both on vinyl. country-rock is what i would class her as with county and country-folk 23 tracks over two separate LPs her string of hits over this period is easily forgotten until one listens to these compilations and she has one of the best female voices ever IMO albums rank 2.6 and 2.5 respectively which means I LOVE THESE ALBUMS so hard to pick a fav but lets go for this one: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-10-2025 JOHNNY CASH "american recordings IV: the man comes around" cd, 2002 the fourth of six of the Rubin Produced series of albums 17 tracks, all covers, some reworkings of his own songs included some unexpected covers on here from Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and Sting to name three. a couple of duets also with Fiona Apple Nick Cave. my favourite of his albums from this Rubin series as it scores 2.6 which means I LOVE THIS ALBUM never posted this previously so here goes: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-10-2025 SLIM DUSTY "tall stories and sad songs" vinyl 1973 not sure how many albums this is in to his career but he made over 100 during his lifetime with Columbia Records Aussie country singer most of the tracks on here could be described as novelty songs as there are lighthearted humorous moments in all songs not my favourite album of his by any means and it scores 1.8 which means I LIKE THIS ALBUM RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-10-2025 JOHN DENVER "back home again 1974 from Lynne's LP collection between us we own all of Denver's 1970s and early 80s albums (his classic years) i wanted to hear one of his albums but a random pick so glad i picked one of hers five big hits off here: the title track, "grandmas feather bed", "thank God im a country boy", "sweet surrender" and "annie's song" plus another seven songs which are almost as good. great stuff which scores 2.6 from me which means I LOVE THIS ALBUM sorry, but i cant go pass this masterpiece: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-10-2025 JOSHUA HEDLEY "Mr Jukebox" cd 2018 debut set of three real country sounds like Jim Reeves and George Jones in places, Marty Robbins in others but still sounds fresh and authentic album scores 2.3 from me which means I LIKE THIS ALBUM title track: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-11-2025 KRIS KRISTOFFERSON "the silver tongued devil and i" vinyl 1971 his second of eighteen solo albums plus eight collaboration albums a masterlcass of songwriting and storytelling IMO is this the greatest country album of all time?, not sure but it would be up there IMO album scores 2.8 for me which means I LOVE THIS ALBUM title track: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-11-2025 ![]() CHARLIE RICH "greatest hits" vinyl 1976 ten track compilation covering the years 1973 to 1976 a solid track list not sure if i need his studio albums because this works just fine album scores 2.4 which means I LOVE THIS ALBUM RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-11-2025 JOHNNY CASH "american recordings V: a hundred highways" cd 2006 his fifth in a run of five of these albums produced by Rick Rubin and like the others theres several covers, several re-recordings of his own songs and a couple of new ones although it is still good his voice is showing his age and mortality nothing great on here but at the same time nothing bad album scores 2.0 which means I LIKE THIS ALBUM fav could have been written for him IMO: |
