Politics - Music Head - 16-11-2016 Congress has had their voting for leadership positions on the Republican side Ryan retains his Speaker post in the House McConnell will be majority leader in the Senate on the Democrat side Senate Minority Leader Reid has retired that post goes to Chuck Schumer on the House side they have postponed that vote till next week suspense builds as to whether Nancy Pelosi will keep her position as minority leader Politics - SteveO - 17-11-2016 That explains it! Thanks Music Man! Music Head Wrote:he was an Independent before he ran Politics - Oceansoul - 17-11-2016 SteveO Wrote:Why did Bernie go Independent after he ran for the Democratic nomination?...just seems odd to me! What MH said, basically. He is an Independent and was before the Presidential election, but he ran as a Democrat to have a shot as a challenger. He caucuses as a Democrat though. It's hard for third party candidates to get recognition otherwise. They don't even get the chance to debate with the two dominant party candidates. The two party system right now isn't exactly fair. Politics - Oceansoul - 17-11-2016 Interestingly, Gary Johnson won almost 4 million votes and he was the Presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party and Bill Weld was his VP pick. I'm surprised he got that high of a number in spite of his lack of foreign policy knowledge. An almost Ralph Nader moment right there. I wonder how much of that number consists of protest votes though. Politics - Music Head - 17-11-2016 media is making fools of themselves again trying to predict cabinet appointments I think they have proven they are not good at predicting Politics - Oceansoul - 18-11-2016 It appears Mexico is reacting to Trump's win, the Bank of Mexico is increasing interest rates to 5.25% saying the US election has made the global economy more complex. Mexico's currency, Peso, has taken a dive in value against the dollar in the last few weeks. They are trying to prepare themselves for the potential protectionist policies of Trump's platform. http://markets.businessinsider.com/n...lex-1001531323 Politics - Oceansoul - 18-11-2016 Talk is so cheap. Politics - Lovely Linda - 18-11-2016 Geez, I hope Pelosi is out. She is second in the dems i dislike the most. Harry Reid is next. I guess no matter what happens in the world from here on out the Donald will get the blame. It's not like the Dems have left this country in such great shape. We all need to get over it. The election is over and Donald is in for now anyway. He can't do worse than some of the others have done. I don't believe he will go to other countries and trash America. Mitt Romney, please don't make him SOS Donald! Anyway, I don't get it. I did not cry or bitch that much when Obama got in the WH. I did not like it but what could I do. I'm even in the AHC. If Hillary had got it, I would have to had accepted. I sure would not have wasted tears. Politics - Oceansoul - 18-11-2016 People aren't just going to sit back and be quiet now that he has been elected. He is now in a position of power and represents our country. There is a polarization of politics in this country and it's not going away over night. As the Republicans in Congress during Obama's administration have tried to obstruct his proposals and legislation for a while now, so too could Trump expect the same treatment, but from Democrats instead unless they decide not to. He will not get an easy ride. Yes, he is the President-elect and yes, he could do worse than those before him. Politics - Lovely Linda - 18-11-2016 We have no evidence right now that he will do worse. He has not even taken office. Give the man a chance. I have not seen so much violence and protesting since JFK was elected. Ford will stay in Kentucky. Good work Donald! I know Kentucky is happy about that. BTW, I'm not talking about the Congress or Senate. I'm talking about the tantrums that are errupting across America. People are going to therapy because of this election. It is crazy. Did y'all see the video of this black woman who told her little boy to get out of the house because he voted for Trump at a mock election.. She told him his suitcase was packed. He was crying. |
