My posts aren't directed at anyone here, I'm just venting. Politics right now is just getting under my skin. Perhaps too much.

i watched a bit of Colbert's late night show last night...not sure why, because I don't like him but I did...

Bernie Sanders was on there discussing his latest book, an autobiography I believe...

I don't like Sanders neither....everything he said came straight out of the Pete Seeger handbook for beatnix,
don't get me wrong I like some of Seeger's songs, even own a compilation of them...
but Sanders (IMO) is living in 1960 with his views and world outlook...
times have changed, the world has changed since then, his views are so far outdated im surprised he even run for President....
all Hillary had to contend with was him and Trump, her golden opportunity to become President slipped through her fingers IMO.

How are they outdated? Just curious. He seems to have resonated with some Millennials who aren't 60's babies.

i just think they belong in the midsts of time when the world was a much safer, simpler place without all the unemployment, lack of opportunity, terrorism, GFC's etc...

hey, if people want to believe in that stuff, great, each to their own...if everybody in the world thought that way, then the world would be a more peaceful happier place...

i don't think you guys had any real choices in the election, it was the corporate crook, the compulsive liar or the hippy...

i;d say it was a fair bet that some of Sander's supporters hated the other two candidates so much that he was a more pragmatic, untarnished candidate who doesn't appear to have any skeletons in the proverbial closet....

he's probably locked into his "leftist" views too much, politicians need to be flexible and open to other ideas...
i don't like Trump at all, but his views are not strictly Dem or Pub, he seems to flit between both as he sees fit,

I guess I preferred the hippie haha. I watched Colbert's interview with Sanders and I still agree with much of his sentiments. I'm an idealist as well so maybe that's one reason. He mentions issues that plague my life or that are of concern to me. Granted, his views are pretty leftist, even compared to most of the Democratic Party and he seems to stand by them rather firmly.

i agree with you Ocean....
I suspect we're all idealists in our own way...we'd all love higher wages, little unemployment, job security, and to live in a world where everything is rosy, but alas,
in the real world that doesn't exist...
I can relate to people like Seeger, Guthrie, Billy Bragg, early Dylan, Mama's and The Papa's, Byrds, Lennon/Harrison, CSN/CSNY etc etc....musically, and its great to think the world they write about and aspire to would be lovely.

youre still young Ocean and you obviously have "ideals", I hope you don't lose them and maybe one day when im dead and buried youll be around to see its fruition
but I wont hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Why did Bernie go Independent after he ran for the Democratic nomination?...just seems odd to me!

he was an Independent before he ran
only became a Democrat to run against Hillary
