I've noticed some people generalizing those on the left as all educated, snobby wealthy elites who live in a luxury house in Manhattan. I hear it on the news, on the internet, by other leftists, etc.
Hi, I'm a poor, working class leftist. How can I look down on people who are going through the same crap as me?! I'm not rich and I'm not friends with Katy Perry and Beyonce! I don't even know any corporate elite people hahaha.

Trump's first declaration in his campaign was to build a beautiful fantastic wall to keep illegal Mexicans out! Now that Mexico is adamant about not paying for it, Trump is off the hook. The US won't pay for it so that's one promise he broke and he's relieved!...ha ha ha...he's filthy rich...you pay for the wall Donald!

when Trump initially said he would build a wall, I took it as a metaphorical comment not a literal comment (maybe he meant literal, who knows??)

I see he has turned down the $400K annual income as President for a $1 per annum salary...
does that mean he thinks he's only worth a $1 a year or is it intended to go on his tax returns as a tax loss
for financial reasons...(more than a hint of sarcasm in that comment!)!!!!!
seriously, good on him for doing it and donating the money to charity, which is what I heard he was doing with it.
he doesn't need the cash so at least he's putting his money where his mouth is,
unlike Paul McCartney who is entitled to, and claims the UK pension from the age of 60 because he could! (unbelievable!)

I wish certain people would stop lumping me into this generic liberal generalization as if the American left all think alike. I have been insulted by the right, and Trump supporters. I've been insulted by people on the same political aisle as me as well. Now I'm being lumped in with the liberals at colleges who whine about wanting safe spaces.
Don't tell me what I believe in and I'm so tired of being nice. I care about the underdogs in society, the poor, minorities, women's rights, income inequality, healthcare, etc. You don't have to decide between helping the struggling working class or caring about minority rights. These things are not mutually exclusive. The Democratic Party messed up and need to learn a lesson from this.
I try to communicate with people who share different political views and values than me so I don't get stuck in an echo chamber. Alas, just because I try to reach out to people, that doesn't mean they want to understand me either. Yes, this is a rant. I'm just frustrated right now. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.
