Politics - Oceansoul - 11-11-2016 ^ Hillary won the popular vote, but Trump won the electoral college instead. Politics - Lovely Linda - 11-11-2016 That's right Oceansoul. I was up most of the night. At 4:45 I found out Trump won. I knew when he won Florida there was hope. Surprised me!! Surprised the media too that Trump really had a chance. Politics - Oceansoul - 11-11-2016 Yeah quite a few people underestimated Trump. I watched the polling closings and the incoming voting results from about 6pm to 12am then I went to bed when my emotions were spent and I was done watching the news since I knew what the result would likely be. My choice for the Missouri senator seat in Washington D.C. lost and Hillary was basically done for so I went to bed. I woke up yesterday and turned on C-Span, alas I learned he did win. Politics - Jerome - 11-11-2016 Trump is going to struggle with the art of diplomacy, because it's the one thing he is no good at. He is used to getting his own way all the time. But don't despair America, he might just be exactly what the country needs. Forget about election promises and all of that nonsense - that was just a ploy to keep himself in the media spotlight. And it worked - so there is method to his madness. He does get things done. The gooks in government are actually going to have to get off their backsides and start doing some real work instead of just talking all the time. He will force them to work. Might not be such a bad thing to have a businessman run the country instead of all the 'talking heads'. You have to give the man the opportunity to prove himself. If he can't get things done - exit stage left in four years time. All this rioting & demonstration nonsense is an indication that people don't really respect the democratic process. The very thing they claim to uphold. Go figure......... Politics - Oceansoul - 11-11-2016 I have read his plan for his first 100 days in office, it has elements I understand like creating jobs, doing something about infrastructure, banning some dirty lobbying, etc. But there are elements I disagree with and find problematic and worrisome like his desire to cancel funding to climate change programs and that he will repeal the ACA and replace it with a savings account act instead. I'm not enthusiastic. But Trump is a wild card so who knows. His VP pick, Mike Pence, believes gay people can be "cured" through conversion therapy and has supported anti-LGBTQ legislation in Indiana and supported a law that would require women who have miscarriages to have a funeral for them. Ugh. Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 11-11-2016 like I said previously months ago, I thought he would win and I agreed with most of his policies (or should I say rhetoric for want of a better word!) but the more I hear about him as a person, the way he conducts business and his attitude towards women, the more I dislike him as a human being... as much as I thought he would win, I never dreamt it would actually happen because he was not a politician... and like you said Jerome, the guy now has to prove that he can do it or its "curtain call" in four years time! Politics - Oceansoul - 11-11-2016 This is the first 100 days plan Trump has discussed recently when he is sworn into office in January: http://www.vox.com/2016/11/10/13584390/donald-trump-first-100-days Politics - Oceansoul - 11-11-2016 Austria has a presidential election going on and Austrian citizens will vote on December 4. The election was suppose to be held on October 2, but has been postponed due to adhesive glue being found on postal ballots. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/sep/12/austria-presidential-election-rerun-to-be-postponed-faulty-glue-ballot-papers Austria has also been without a President since July 8 when Heinz Fischer stepped down. Politics - Jerome - 12-11-2016 France and Germany are headed to the polls soon as well. More conservative far rights are going to come into play. Europe is sick of the refugee crisis. Politics - Music Head - 12-11-2016 time for cabinet selection come on Newt bring in the big prize |
