RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-03-2020 ![]() LINDA RONSTADT "greatest hits volume two" cd, 1980. obviously a compilation, covers the period 77-80 and most of her singles from then are on this one. its a shame most of her songs/singles were covers as it diminishes her career slightly for me. that said, she does make songs her own when she records them. twelve track here, eleven are covers. love a couple like half the rest and couldn't care less for the rest. anyway, I does contain my favourite of hers so I can forgive her. I LIKE THIS ALBUM favourite: (preferred over the original and im a fan of Zevon) RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-03-2020 NO COVER ART AVAILABLE: SHAKIN' STEVENS "there are two types of music....rock 'n' roll" cd, 1990 his seventeenth album, my tenth or eleventh. didn't know where to put this, not quite pop, not classic rock or alternative, so soft rock it is. his career had faltered in the UK at this stage, so he tried to reinvent himself by enlisting the then current masters of pop writing/production in Stock Aitken & Waterman to give him a more modern sound. yup, synth drums etc but you can still hear his '50s rock style. the change didn't work, album stalled outside the top60 and five singles released with only one making the UK top20. nothing too wrong with this album, its typical Shakin' Stevens. I LIKE THIS ALBUM favourite has an almost 50s doo-wop thing happening: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-03-2020 ROD STEWART "as time goes by: the great American songbook II" cd, 2003 covers albums. after the first one its my favourite of the series. album went multi-platinum everywhere. very good selection of tunes on here. love around half the album, like the remainder I LOVE THIS ALBUM easy to pick a favourite here as im a sucker for this song whoever sings it: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-03-2020 BEN HARPER & THE INNOCENT CRIMINALS "burn to shine" cd, 1999 fourth album overall. first with his Criminals. always hard to place Harper as he is so eclectic on each album. blues, rock, almost grungy, soul, pop all on this album. im going 'soft rock'/'easy listening' because I think most of the album would fit here. this one is too much of everything though and that is its downfall IMO. once you get into the groove of one sound another comes out of nowhere and I have to re-adjust how im feeling, its confusing! liking some of the album, disliking other parts for the reasons mentioned. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM favourite track wasn't even one of the singles: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-03-2020 ![]() RITA COOLIDGE "dancing with an angel" cd, 1991 Rita's seventeenth studio set. failed to chart anywhere. no singles released. am ashamed to say its the only thing of hers i own. I LOVE THIS ALBUM favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-03-2020 ANNIE LENNOX "medusa" cd, 1995 her second solo album all covers diverse collection, ranges from Neil Young, Procol Harum, Al Green, Clash, Bob Marley and Psychedelic Furs to name a few. one of those artists who makes every song her own interpretation. loving just about everything on here. I LOVE THIS ALBUM no favourite track but anyone who takes on this track has guts: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-03-2020 ![]() HARRY CONNICK JR "25" cd, 1992 his fourth vocal album. title comes from the age he was when he recorded it way before Adele did the same thing! a covers set. given to me by a work colleague who was giving up cds and going digital a while ago. mainly vocal and piano but a couple of piano instrumentals thrown in. not really a fan so that was a painful listen. to be perfectly honest, there was nothing I liked on the album at all. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM: best of a bad bunch: (nice video though) RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-04-2020 ROD STEWART "fly me to the moon: the great American songbook volume V" cd, 2010 the fifth and final in the series. thought the first one was my favourite but this one beats it. was playing it whilst Dani and I were eating dinner and she asked who was singing. she thought is was Michael Buble, I wanted to laugh but contained myself... hey, shes female and Scorpio, had to keep on the good side of her as ive got to live with her! so I just said, "oh yes. they sound similar at times"...LOL anyway classy album, its got some of my favourite oldies on this one and Rod does them justice for sure. and I get to sleep knowing i'll be able to wake up in the morning and hear something else that sounds like whatever Dani wants it to sound like LOL I LOVE THIS ALBUM favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 04-04-2020 Dani sounds like my dear wife after 50 years she recognizes Dylan RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-04-2020 MICHAEL KIWANUKA "home again" cd, 2012 debut of three. I own the first two. this one has a lot of jazz overtones so that's where its going. beautiful melodies and vocals of which he sounds a bit like Ben Harper on his quieter moments. my favourite of the two I own. I LOVE THIS ALBUM |
