Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-11-2016

yep. well said (a couple of posts up Jerome)....

I did support Trump when he first came out with his building a wall, deporting illegals, closing borders to muslims etc etc...
then he opened his stupid mouth too often and I went off him...

he gave a great acceptance speech about "this is about America, we all need to pull together and work as one"....good stuff.

that said, a few pages back I posted something about some economics/political professor in the US who has formulated a way of predicting who will win
Presidential elections, he has got everyone correct since Nixon and by the correct winning % margin also, the only one he predicted wrong was the one that
"W" won, he predicted, months ago, that Trump would win by 3-5%, everyone thought he was nuts, but he proved the experts wrong big time!

There is also some Indian guy who wrote a software program that has predicted the outcome for the last few decades. The algorithm spat out a Trump win for this election a couple of weeks ago. The bookies are going to be furious!

Now for the real question - how much of the Clinton Foundation's money, donated by various different people from all walks of life, was spent on her campaign? From all the reports I have seen, only roughly 10% has gone on to associations that need the money. Where is rest of it? I think Hillary's tough time is only just beginning..........

Politics - MFS - 09-11-2016

Hm, do you think she needed those? Don't you believe there were plenty of sponsors or other sources of funds?
But one thing is for sure, HC's reputation internationally prior the election and the campaigns seem to differ quite a lot compared to the one found among US voters...
Or is it only us vikings drinking to much mead that have been mislead?

Politics - MFS - 09-11-2016

Felt I needed to add that I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case - nothing surprises anymore when it comes to politics in general and US politics in particular...

So many thoughts and feelings are running through me right now. I'm upset, but also scared to death of what might happen when Trump takes office.

Politics - Oceansoul - 10-11-2016

I will say this much, I'm glad that my state put up a fight last night. I thought it would be like Arkansas or Tennessee, an easy win for Trump. Actually I think I can understand what is going on a bit here, especially considering what happened in Ferguson, MO and the number of progressive or left leaning voters in certain parts of the state.

I tried to help and hoped that Jason Kander would win the Senate seat, but he lost to Roy Blunt. Sigh.

Trump won the electoral college votes necessary to win the Presidency, but Hillary won the popular vote. The Republicans have the majority hold on the House of Representatives and the Senate now.

Politics - Oceansoul - 10-11-2016

I guess it remains to be seen how things will turn out considering how unpredictable Trump is, but he made promises to his voters so he will feel their wrath if he lied to them and doesn't try to fulfill them as President. I'm concerned about Mike Pence and the Republican majority which will be coming back to Congress as well.

The DNC also failed me and so my disappointment is setting in. I was a Bernie Sanders supporter and I saw his campaign crash and burn, no thanks to Dems who were afraid of him, even the media tried ignoring him at first. But I realize he was too far left for the US and Hillary represented a broken, corrupt system to quite a few voters. I got my hopes up for something promising with Sanders, and when the Democrats chose Hillary instead, I came to terms with it and tried to be pragmatic about my vote.

I had a weird feeling a couple of weeks ago that Trump's popularity was being underestimated, and I saw early voting coming in in his favor and the fervor of his supporters along with the lack of enthusiasm of some Dems, I considered this race would be close and if Hillary won, it would be by the skin of her teeth. And she lost. The polls have been shown to be untrustworthy.

I've dealt with a mix of emotions today to come to terms with the result of the election. As a low income, working class woman, I hope I haven't lost.
