TheNeedleDrops Wrote:I watched one last night called "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson are in it. It was pretty good. It's about a drug-addicted prostitute that gets arrested leaving her kid to fend for himself in NY.

I cheered on Jordin the whole time she was on AI. I thought she was the best!
I'll be sure to watch that movie. Thanks!

I saw it Linda! Good movie! A lot of realism!

Yesterday, "Child of God" proved sufficiently mesmerizing to induce several considerable stretches without touching my dinner necessitating repeat trips to the microwave. Scott Haze's performance of a mentally unbalanced young man from a traumatic childhood living on the margins of rural society in the hills of East Tennessee during the 1950s or perhaps early 60s (guesses based on my admitted lack of knowledge regarding automobile styles and decades of production) is stark, brutal, and magnificent in every aspect from the barren winter terrain to minimalist dialogue and unvarnished depiction of man's dark heart and mad mind. Indeed, though possessed of considerably fewer intellectual faculties that Kurtz, I couldn't help but think that Lester Ballard would've been one character who could understand the profound gravity of the former's epiphany expressed by those immortal words, "The horror, the horror..."

Of course, you're moviebuilding on the bedrock foundation of an original novel by Cormac McCarthy!/peace, K

Saw this movie last night. Not a new one but one of Costner's best I thought.
One I will watch again. I thought Ashton was great in the movie too.
I don't normally like Ashton but this one he was a better actor.

ive never seen "the guardian" Linda....maybe I should check it out....!
im a fan of Costner....

but I guess my opinion of his movies varies from most other people because....
I didn't like "dances with wolves" much but I loved "waterworld"(probably the greatest movie flop of the last fifty years!), so go figure!

Tin Cup was another I enjoyed, but I know little about Golf...
The Postman was also pretty good IMO....
and that one he made with the little kid(Costner was a thief from memory, and Clint Eastwood produced it, but the name eludes me!)

I did not like Dances either although I'm glad Kevin won a award as best director for the film.
My favorites of his varies. I liked Tin Cup. I have played golf. I still have a nice set of golf clubs.
Mr. Brooks is a very good film too. He plays a serial killer. Different from what we would think Kevin
would play but he did a fine job Confusedmile:
The movie he played with the little kid is Perfect World.
I liked Bull Durham, Field Of Dreams, Revenge, Wyatt Earp, The Bodyguard, Message In A Bottle,
No Way Out, and JFK (just to name some of Costner's works).

Perfect World, thanks Linda!!!!
His best movie IMO, and a sad ending to boot!!

Only ones you mentioned on your latest list I haven't seen are:

JFK
The Bodyguard.

Are they worth watching???

BTW,
When I watch a movie I really don't want to think too hard as they're supposed to be relaxing so...
Is the JFK one really in depth with its politics or does it basically skim the surface of the Cuban Missile Crisis, which is the main theme of the story, right????

Can anybody give me his or her review on Nightcrawler?

I think they are worth watching. JFK was nominated for a Oscar.
I liked Fandango too. A earlier Kevin film.
13 Days was more about the Missile Crisis.
JFK is about all angles that led up to the killing of JFK (conspiracy).
The speech Kevin made in court at the end of the film is worth watching the movie. He was great!
