Roger Chapman (also known as ‘Chappo’), was born 08 April 1942 in Leicester, England. Voice, harmonica, tenor sax and percussion for the prog rock band Family, known for his unique vocal style which someone has described as “bleating vibrato” and “electric goat”. Pretty much spot on, LOL!

Personally, I’ve not listened to very much of the band’s music, however, I’m familiar with two specific tracks that Chapman recorded collaboratively, one of which is Mike Oldfield’s “Shadow on the Wall”, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_euDhMDDRq4, and the other, his rendition of Mike Batt’s “Run Like the Wind” which is one of my favourite songs of all time (specifically his version)!

Mark Kelly was born on this day in 1961, Dublin, Ireland.

Keyboardist for Marillion – he joined them in 1981 and has appeared on all their studio albums. He’s also credited as having come up with online ‘crowdfunding’ – a method used to finance the recording of their Araknophobia album after experiencing the success of the band’s 1997 fan-funded tour of the USA. He seems to be well thought of and something of a pioneer regarding the interests of music artists in the digital age.

"Kayleigh" is probably the best known track from Marillion’s most commercially successful album – Misplaced Childhood –

^Darn, you snuck in first with my dude of the day!! But I forgive you. Angel Lol!

Interesting character! I remember the Stray Cats well, but what I didn’t know up until now, is that he went on, after a few false starts, to become extremely successful with his Brian Setzer Orchestra, returning to rockabilly, jump blues and swing after a brief and much less rewarding stint in the rock arena. Just goes to show, you should stick to doing what you love.
