RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-10-2019 ![]() DELTA GOODREM "innocent eyes" cd, 2003 Aussie Delta's debut at 18. guess you could say it was her dawn but never saw her wear a rose. piano based Easy Listening-cum-Pop... 12x Platinum here. 6 singles off it, all reached #1 in her homeland. had the world at her feet. got too pretentious and diva-like along with bad publicity for being a 'home-wrecker' on a couple of occasions. makes a living as a tv star judging singing competitions now. love this album. don't care for what she released after this one though. title track and favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - Dissily Mordentroge - 27-10-2019 Dave Brubeck called this cover of his band’s classic “Take Five” (Paul Desmond) by the Pakistani musical group Sachal the “most original” he had ever heard. Wonder what he thought of the pyjamas? RE: What Are You Listening To? - Dissily Mordentroge - 29-10-2019 Skip to 0.30 Wish they hadn't used that crappy upright. . . … .. RE: What Are You Listening To? - Dissily Mordentroge - 01-11-2019 IS this soft rock ? I dunno. Saw them do this in Melbourne in 1984. I’d forgetten about the mad dance moves ( if that’s what you call them) On the night I saw them they were on fire. Tina Weymouth on joining Talking Heads :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiNP73OBIH0 RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-11-2019 ^^ I would generally put Talking Heads in Alternative, but each to their own mate David Byrne released a solo album a couple of years ago called "American Utopia" which you would have missed if you blinked at the wrong time because it tanked in the charts. it was a collaboration between him and Brian Eno. I loved it but I was the only one here who did...am I the weird one or are the rest of them weird?? might be worth a listen on your favourite streaming service just for something a little different in your day not great audio on this track from the album, but you'll get the idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hm9P0Ly9bo RE: What Are You Listening To? - Dissily Mordentroge - 01-11-2019 (01-11-2019, 05:11)CRAZY-HORSE Wrote: ^^ Not great audio? The camera work is far worse, headache inducing in fact. The music itself is that out of your mind New Yorker stuff I can’t get my head around most of the time. It reminds me of a friday night concert put on by the residents of an elderly rock stars retirement home. I’ll have a listen to the rest of it though. RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-01-2020 SARAH McLACHLAN "surfacing" cd, 1997 Canadian vocalist fourth album has the most beautiful angelic voice I have ever heard she could sing "Old McDonald" and i'd be mesmerised this is pure perfection from the voice to the songs themselves through to the final sound of the mix album reached Diamond status in her homeland, 8X platinum in the US but only a lowly #37 in Australia and an even worse #47 in the UK, stupid Aussies and Poms. I LOVE THIS ALBUM favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-01-2020 ![]() BOB DYLAN "modern times" cd, 2006 his 32nd album. bits of blues, jazz and dare I say it, rockabilly on this one. lots of controversies surrounding the tracks here with Dylan accused of stealing melodies, tunes and even lines form older songs without acknowledging it in the album credit notes. Dylan has admitted using bits of other peoples songs in his own songs over the decades so its not like he hides what he does. reached #1 in a dozen countries including America and Australia (#3 in the UK). one of the better latter day albums of his, borderline like/love for me as usual, very few Dylan tracks on YT so heres one that is on there: Thunder on the mountain, fires on the moon There's a ruckus in the alley and the sun will be here soon Today's the day, gonna grab my trombone and blow Well, there's hot stuff here and it's everywhere I go I was thinkin' 'bout Alicia Keys, couldn't keep from crying When she was born in Hell's Kitchen, I was living down the line I'm wondering where in the world Alicia Keys could be I been looking for her even clear through Tennessee Feel like my soul is beginning to expand Look into my heart and you will sort of understand You brought me here, now you're trying to run me away The writing's on the wall, come read it, come see what it say Thunder on the mountain, rolling like a drum Gonna sleep over there, that's where the music coming from I don't need any guide, I already know the way Remember this, I'm your servant both night and day The pistols are poppin' and the power is down I'd like to try somethin' but I'm so far from town The sun keeps shinin' and the North Wind keeps picking up speed Gonna forget about myself for a while, gonna go out and see what others need I've been sitting down studying the art of love I think it will fit me like a glove I want some real good woman to do just what I say Everybody got to wonder what's the matter with this cruel world today Thunder on the mountain rolling to the ground Gonna get up in the morning walk the hard road down Some sweet day I'll stand beside my king I wouldn't betray your love or any other thing Gonna raise me an army, some tough sons of bitches I'll recruit my army from the orphanages I been to St. Herman's church and I've said my religious vows I've sucked the milk out of a thousand cows I got the pork chops, she got the pie She ain't no angel and neither am I Shame on your greed, shame on your wicked schemes I'll say this, I don't give a damn about your dreams Thunder on the mountain heavy as can be Mean old twister bearing down on me All the ladies of Washington scrambling to get out of town Looks like something bad gonna happen, better roll your airplane down Everybody's going and I want to go too Don't wanna take a chance with somebody new I did all I could and I did it right there and then I've already confessed, no need to confess again Gonna make a lot of money, gonna go up north I'll plant and I'll harvest what the earth brings forth The hammer's on the table, the pitchfork's on the shelf For the love of God, you ought to take pity on yourself RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-01-2020 ![]() CHRIS DE BURGH "spark to a flame-the very best of" cd, 1989 soft rock. sixteen hits on here. covering the first decade of his career. there way more to this guy than the handful of hits we all know him for. a classy songwriter/performer who is grossly underrated IMO. could pick any number of songs on here to post. I LOVE THIS ALBUM love this track: (I had no idea Smokie covered this one till I was on YT) and Smokie's version if youre curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXTxmkGT_x0 audio RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-01-2020 ![]() CELINE DION "falling into you" cd, 1996 Canadian diva's fourth English language album. 32 million worldwide sales. never really consider myself a fan of hers but just about everything on here is brilliant. Aussie version of the album contains a cover of Carole's "natural woman", Celine nails it, as she does with Tina's "river deep....". giving credit where credit is due she is in a league of her own as a vocalist. love her version of Pandora's Box Steinman "its all coming back to me now". actually surprised (with her squeaky clean image) that she covered that one considering its about a woman reliving the embarrassment of a drug/alcohol fuelled orgy?!?!?! either way, plenty to love on here, nothing to not like I LOVE THIS ALBUM went for this one because it was the first single of hers that really caught my attention back in the day. first couple of minutes of the clip is talking so skip over it if you want. also, amazing just how easy she makes singing look: |
