Both very good. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-03-2017 Jerome Wrote:I have the Knopfler/Harris album and DVD. Both very good. I figured youd have that one Jerome...big fan of both artists that you are. Im looking foreward to unwrapping it and giving it a whirl over the next few weeks, expecting big things from it myself. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-03-2017 ![]() PAUL WELLER "jawbone" soundtrack to a British boxing movie... first soundtrack by Weller... will give it a whirl tomorrow and post it as a new release later in the day. What Did You Buy? - LMD - 13-03-2017 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:several purchases today: Hmm, is that a new Knopfler one or an older one? Thoughts on it? I keep saying one of these days I'm going to start listening to his solo output, and then never do. Furthest I got was a bootlegged concert of his and 2 shows he played with Clapton. :\ What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 13-03-2017 I suggest starting with 'Screenplaying', a collection of instrumental movie soundtracks he has done over the years. It's a very laid back album and his guitar input is minimal but highly effective. For his vocal stuff 'The Ragpicker's Dream' & 'Tracker' would be my favourites. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-03-2017 gotta say I agree with you 100% Jerome, BTW, still haven't listened to the Emmylou one yet. What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 13-03-2017 I enjoy Privateering ... some great songs on that, and it really grows on you. What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 14-03-2017 I have that album Ruby but for some or other reason it has been forgotten about??? Will have to dig that out today. Also like 'Kill To Get Crimson' as well. In fact there is very little of his material I don't like, either solo or with the Straits. The man's an enigma. I was fortunate enough to see him in Brighton some years back. Masterful performance. What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 17-03-2017 Lucky you! He has a magic touch and I donât think anything heâs done is dismissible, including the soundtrack for The Princess Bride which I watched for the first time a little while ago and which has acquired itself quite a cult following; it is a silly but charming swashbuckling spoof which is firmly tongue-in-cheek yet somehow beguiling. Loved Mandy Patinkin as the eminently quotable and vengeful Spanish swordsman, Inigo Montoya ⦠Despite the soundtrack being chucked together in about five minutes flat (purportedly), with MK and Guy Fletcher alone wielding instruments (along with copious helpings of synthesizer), that too is quite lovely and I now have the record because it popped up under my nose, as these things tend to do ⦠he's off on a different tangent here too ...
