RE: What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 06-02-2018 ^^ love him Chances Are comes to mind RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-02-2018 ![]() STRAY CATS "the best of Stray Cats" cd, 1997: US rockabilly band from New York... tried and failed to make it in their homeland so they moved to the UK where '50s style rock back in vogue courtesy of Welshman Shakin' Stevens... Stray Cats had a string of hits in the UK before their material was released in the US where they still only had moderate success.... band released about ten albums over the years, have split, reformed and split etc again and again... theyre currently due to perform in the US as part of their latest reformation... a good solid rockabilly sound from these guys IMO... my favourite single of theirs: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-02-2018 ![]() PATTI PAGE "love letters" vinyl 1969: the gal had already released fifty-two studio albums by time this compilation came out and she had only started recording in 1951, so yeah, she was releasing three albums a year on average!.... also, by the time this one was released she had already sold sixty million albums worldwide...that is simply astonishing IMO to think she didn't have to take off her clothes, swing on a medicine ball or twerk in order to do it!... must have been a discount bin purchase... as you can gather its a love songs compilation, "strangers on the shore", "i wonder, I wonder, I wonder", "just a simple melody" etc etc, all standards from that era on here... a pleasant enough album, great background music anyway... also included on it, this one, and I don't care who sings it, I love it! RE: What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 07-02-2018 ^^ agree about Love Letters Patti's peak was a little before my time but I do remember loving this one RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-02-2018 never heard your linked track previously MH...nice! RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-02-2018 KELLY CLARKSON "greatest hits: chapter one" cd, 2012: first winner of US Idol... eight studio sets under her belt now... seventeen track, three of which were new recordings and all three released as singles in order to promote the album... I only have this one and her fifth album "stronger"... pretty hard to pick a favourite track off here as shes made some bloody good singles IMO a clip from the days when Fallon was genuinely funny, shows what a good sport Kelly is as she sings one of her hits backwards for fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHzASkR1ls0 and the same thing as it should be: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-02-2018 RUPERT HOLMES "partners in crime" vinyl 1979: Rupert's fifth... we all know the hit single that came off it... soft rock sounds on here, a surprisingly good album for a second hand buy... have you all guessed what the hit single was yet?... "escape (pina colada song)"... my favourite track is the title track: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-02-2018 JOHN FARNHAM "whispering jack" cd, 1986: Aussie pop-idol from the 1960s/70s... resurrected his career taking on vocal duties for Little River Band in the early 1980s... career stalled again and he re-financed his house to get this one recorded and the rest is history... 24 times platinum here in Australia, second biggest album of all time here (after Bat Out Of Hell)... not a big fan of John's and I don't think this album is that great, just a steady all round good album... nothing bad on it, and only a couple of tracks I love... four singles released off this album: "youre the voice" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVbjCmm1yok live "pressure down" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lw0d5OnWFo live "reasons" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR9XWK1W78I live and this one, my favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-02-2018 DAVID KNOPFLER "release" vinyl, 1983: debut solo set from the ex-Dire Straits member and younger bro to Mark.... this album is pure class, and really, would you expect anything less from a Knopfler?!... Dire Straits sound comes though on some tracks, Chris Rea springs to mind on other tracks... brilliant stuff! from the album, a tv performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFrGOddNg_Y and my favourite track: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-02-2018 ![]() HARRY NILSSON "everybody's talkin': the very best of" cd, 2003: fourteen track compilation of tracks from 1967-72, his classic years!... sitting back listening to this its impossible not to love this guy... has to be one of the greatest soft rock songwriters ever... if I scored this one it would, without a doubt score 10/10. I really should invest in more than this compilation! thought i'd go for one of the lesser known tracks on the album: |
