SteveO Wrote:You like disco. Try to listen to DAFT PUNK - album - RANDOM ACCESS MEMORIES, Reb! ...it's on the charts right now and it's very good!
I'll check it out Steve. I thought the Bee Gees were great in the 70s. Liked Donna Summer, and the Pointer Sisters. I've said Disco will never die as long as we have the songs of the Bee Gees. This question was hard because there are great singers and groups in every decade. Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves, love them. 60s, The Monkees, The Beatles, The Mama and Papas, Sonny and Cher, loved them and the 70s The Carpenters. I have The Karen Carpenter Story on VHS. This year Jamey Johnson will be in my hometown August 9th. And let's not forget about David Phelps

80's for me... If you can see through the sometimes really daft productions... there were so many stunning melodies written in the 80's.

I chose the 70s, because that's when I discovered music on my own terms.

Born in 64, I pretty much listened to what my folks played. (as did most everyone, I supposed)

I still carry that music with me to this day, and even own some. (as does almost everyone, I suppose)

Along about 10-11 years old, though, thanks to some cousins a couple years older than me, I was introduced to Skynyrd, Zep, Grand Funk, etc. From there, I went out on my own. Carved my own groove.

So, naturally, I chose the period of my musical independence. (as do most people, I suppose)

The greatest thing about music is you can always go back. You can go back any time, any where, in a group, or by yourself.

Sure, there are songs that bring back low points. But the good outweighs the bad by a ton. (as it does for most, I suppose)

But, there's music from every decade that I truly love and enjoy. There's always been good music, always. You just have to look for it. It's out there.
