Now for a naive little Irish (?) folk song :-

An Irish indie folk artist singing original compositions. Very nice voice and some memorable melodies - I say that due to the number of earworms appearing out of the blue. Lol! Sometimes they pop up after only a brief listen to something and it takes a while to figure out where on earth they came from! I think this is a fairly accomplished album, very easy on the ear, on mine at any rate! He has a handful of collaborators but I can't find a whole lot of info other than this, from his site  "....it was recorded between Clonakilty, Co. Cork and Louisville, Kentucky during the early part of 2018. It features numerous collaborations with longtime musical partners Brian Casey and Davie Ryan as well as the addition of the ethereal voice of Joan Shelley and melodious fingerstyle folk guitar of Nathan Salsburg. This is John’s most complete and ambitious work to date." https://johnblek.com/

The opener "Blackwater" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxtIPSOJ7lo

"Rise Up" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57v0qfklT7A

"Hannah" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEF6HbT_sp0

And the biggest earwormy culprit of them all - "The Body"

ELTON JOHN "tumbleweed connection"  cd, 1970

#2 UK, #4 AU, #5 US, #4 CAN

third album
theres always been hints of country, folk and Americana in Eltons music
but this was his first album that was exclusive to those style.
Dusty Springfield turns up to provide backing vocals on here.
multi-platinum sales worldwide
one single released (country comfort) which only charted in New Zealand
and recently covered by Keith Urban.
nothing to dislike on here, a good solid album

ANNE MURRAY "croonin' "  cd,  1993

her 27th studio album
a covers set
all songs date circa 1950-56
as title suggests theyre mostly crooner tunes.
not really a big fan of her music overall but this isn't bad purely becasue
I don't know a lot of the original versions.
#1 Canadian Country chart, #54 US Country Chart.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

not really a favourite as such but one of the singles:

RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-01-2020

ALAN JACKSON "thirty miles west"  cd,, 2012

seventeenth studio album, I own six.
one of only a few modern country artists I like,
why?, because he keeps it real, its real country.
he wrote half the tracks here.
most are love songs (love found or lost) with a bluegrass tune thrown in.
that bluegrass track features Zac Brown in a duet with AJ.
a very good album.

my favourite (2nd single)

DOLLY PARTON "the Gospel collection" cd, 2010.

a compilation of Spiritual tracks shes recorded over the decades.
eighteen tracks.
awesome album if you like country gospel.
you can feel the sincerity and honesty in her voice as she sings these songs
which is no surprise because like so many other country artists these are the songs she
was bought up singing from the time she could talk.
love just about everything on here
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
