Music Head Wrote:swore off last year
just reached a point in life where this is enough accumulating objects.
I have roughly 4000 titles of cd/vinyl
enough to last
that doesn't mean I have stopped listening, just buying
with the existence of streaming album sites and mobile devices
there is not much I would want to listen to that is not available online
being retired and always home allows me the luxury of what I want when I want for free
why purchase other than to accumulate more stuff
I have enough stuff
works for me though I know it wouldn't for most

Ah, that definitely makes sense. Tough to argue against the decision. I thought it was symbolizing the end of your music listening; glad I'm mistaken.

Bruce Springsteen - The River

I was in JB HiFi today, for something totally unrelated, but I happened to notice that they had a whole display rack of Bruce albums, no doubt capitalising on the fact that he has recently been in town. I've had this one in the back of my mind for some time.

His quality has been patchy over the years, I feel. I already have The Rising; this one is the only other one I felt I needed to have.

excellent album bob_32...

I actually think his quality has been very consistent over the years,
I wasn't keen on Human Touch, Lucky Town and his last effort High Hopes, the rest are all pretty good.

I just find it strange though, that you would have The Rising out of all of his albums??

It was probably just the moment in time... it was considered a comeback album of sorts, it got very good reviews, and I had always liked some of his songs but never got round to buying an album. Having said that I do think it's a fine album. I'm actually not that fond of the title track, and there are a couple of other songs I could do without, but I like most of it.

I borrowed a fairly recent BS album from the library at one stage, think it was "Magic". I found it surprisingly dull. While The Rising was an album of good-to-great songs with a couple of duds, Magic seemed to be the other way round.

The Ghost of Tom Joad - an unrecognized masterpiece.

took me years to really appreciate TGOTJ but when I did, WOW!

back to Magic, I rechecked my post in the "what are you listening to" threads bob_32,
you are quite correct Sir, an uninspired/uninspiring album, nothing on it I love and several dud tracks,
borderline album for me,
heres that thread post if youre interested:

Absolutely. Grabbed this for $2.99 last week and love it. Has a real "Nebraska" like feel, but for whatever reason never got the credit "Nebraska" did. I personally think the title track and "Youngstown" are up there with some of Bruce's best.

On that note, I went to the record store last week hoping to grab the re-released Larry Coryell "Coryell" CD, and while the store didn't have that I grabbed the following;

The hunt for "Coryell" continues...

He is an extremely good keyboard player - played with Weather Report.

'He was named "Best Electric Keyboardist" twenty-eight times by the readers of Down Beat magazine.[SUP][2][/SUP]'
