BRIAN FALLON "painkillers"
loved what I heard when I listened to the album via Spotify a couple of days ago and bought it today...

whilst there I looked through the clearance/discount bins and found a few others that I needed to get:

no cover art available for this one but: THE ANIMALS "complete animals"
a forty plus track double set of their mid 1960s material

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS "nocturama"
from memory I now need only one or two others to complete my Cave collection on cd.

DAVID GILMOUR "on an island"
love "rattle and hum" and "David Gilmour" so I had to get this one when I was it

THE KINKS "lola versus powerman & the moneygoround"
THE KINKS "percy: soundtrack"

a double cd set containing both albums.

and one that Music Head will definitely be shaking his head in disbelief to.....

MAROON 5 "singles"

yeh, you know what...I do like these guys despite them being the butt of many a joke in the industry.

What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 24-03-2016

Picked up some records -

JOE WALSH - The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get(Slightly disconcerting cover - the plane is upside down so the obverse is actually right side up but appears to be upside down!!)

ELTON JOHN - Honky Château

PAUL KANTNER AND JEFFERSON STARSHIP - Blows Against the Empire

The striking cover design is credited to CCCP and was taken from a black lacquer box decorated with Russian folk painting. It depicts a scene from the fairytale Tsarevitch Ivan, the Grey Wolf and the Firebird – fabulous subject matter that appears all over the place, and no wonder – golden apples, flaming feathers and princely apparel! What could be more enticing?! The poor grey wolf (who is actually the hero) makes only an occasional appearance, from what I have seen.

Apparently a lot of Jefferson Airplanes albums were bootlegged on the Russian black market and Paul Kantner is said to have derived some small enjoyment from hi-jacking a national icon. It all fits in with the fantastical album concept too; an absolute posterchild for hippiedom - this whole package. Incidentally, it’s a Kantner solo effort made four years prior to the formation of the Starship and its eventual line-up, and includes contributions from the ubiquitous Crosby and Nash.

DAN FOGELBERG "original album classics"
thanks for jogging my memory about this guy Ruby...
and MH, I still haven't forgot about Ian Hunter, his stuff is just so
hard to locate here in Australia(i'll end up on line buying his albums)

back to the Fogelberg set:

UK five CD set containing a quintet of albums packaged in mini LP sleeves, all housed in an attractive slipcase. Includes the albums:

Home Free
Captured Angel
Nether Lands
The Innocent Age (Disc 1)
The Innocent Age (Disc 2)

so, how will these albums fare for me Ruby???

What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 26-03-2016

^Seems like a healthy selection.
The Innocent Age
is mandatory Dan, I'd say - Nether Lands is good too - not sure he made anything that's unlistenable!

What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 26-03-2016

Love your EJ pick Ruby. Great album, but apparently a nightmare to record.
