What Are You Listening To? - InvaderBob - 26-04-2016

Hey Crazy-Horse ! Good to know you like the Bryan Adams album, its one of my favourite. And Summer of 69' is as punchy as easy to play on the guitar ! Definitely a song that could make you start on this instrument. What do you think about the song A Little Love ?

I was never a big fan of Taylor's, but I have a very good live album that Jerome sent me a while ago.

I lost interest once he started having hits with covers
but I love those early albums

James Taylor did two early albums that are worthy of being called "classic": Sweet baby James, and Mud Slide Slim. The next album, One man Dog, had a very good single from it, but I'm not familiar with the rest of that album.

I lost interest after he started doing covers like Handyman. Seemed to me like he was going for the low hanging fruit.

They only have 1 album, and it's 3 years old, but I'm loving these kids.

All three are musicians, not just singers. Also, they all play more than one instrument.

The bass player is really good, and has a sound I really enjoy.

Their harmonies are really tight. Not surprising, considering they're sisters.

I could only put 1 video in that post, but I wanted to post this one, too.

This is just a small taste of their live show, covering the Fleetwood Mac cut 'Oh Well'.

I'm telling you, these kids can play.

Hourglass & Never Die Young are great albums as well. Funny thing is I never liked his version of Handyman until I heard the live version on the double CD James Taylor Live. It's just a great track. Has a much better vibe than the original cover version.

I've got both versions, and I would not say i prefer oneto the other, JT's version is different enough to be interesting in its own right.

IMO however the standout song on Mud Slide Slim is "Long Ago and Far Away".
