What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-12-2015

first of my 'git card' purchases today....

GLENN MILLER "the essential..."
a double cd, 38 track compilation, I really like GM but never bought anything previously
and thanks to MH mentioning him a week or so ago, I thought if I see a good value set i'd get it.

GIN WIGMORE "bone to bone"
New Zealand raspy voiced blues/blues rock singer...
I really liked her last album 'gravel and wine' and have liked the singles I heard
from this 2015 release...

WALK THE MOON "talking is hard"
2015 release by the band that bought us the annoyingly catchy 'shut up and dance' hit...

KID ROCK "born free"
I love Kid Rock's 'southern rock/redneck rock/ballads'...
I see Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow and Zac Brown feature on this one...
am expecting his usual sounds on this one.

BRANDON FLOWERS "the desired effect"
I love this guy....
own all of The Killers' albums and his debut 'flamingo' solo album...
I wasn't impressed with the little bit of vocorder he used on the lead off single from this one,
but other than that, it should be another very good album from the mastermind of Killers.

another two gift card purchases today.....

BILLIE JOE & NORAH "foreverly"
the unlikely pairing of the frontman from Greenday and jazz/blues singer Norah Jones...
a covers album that was released a couple of years ago with both artists paying tribute to
the songs of the Everly Brothers, who influenced them as kids back in the day...
had been meaning to get this one for a couple of years but always found other things to get first...but not this year!

ELVIS PRESLEY & RPO "if I can dream"
I wouldn't buy this one myself with my own money as im a 'Presley traditionalist',
but I did like the way the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra enhanced the tracks.

three more gift card purchases today...
going back in time once again....

ELO "a new world record"
as recommended by MH a few weeks ago as his favourite ELO album...

and Jerome will be pleased with these next two purchases for sure!

DAVID GILMOUR: "David Gilmour" & "about face"

What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 29-12-2015

The first DG is OK. The second one has his strongest solo songwriting. Better than all his other albums IMO The tracks 'Murder' and 'Out of the Blue' are fantastic. Have not heard the ELO album.

What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-12-2015

isn't About Face the one Pete Townshend played on and co-wrote several tracks also????

What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 29-12-2015

He wrote 'Love on the Air' I think. Don't know about the other tracks.

What Did You Buy? - Jerome - 29-12-2015

Had a look on the web - he also wrote 'All Lovers are Deranged' - now THERE'S a true statement if ever there was one. He hit the nail on the head with that line.
