Politics - Lovely Linda - 12-10-2016

The Republican Party has not looked good in the last 3 elections.
They have a problem electing candidates that will win in the major election.

It took me awhile to even decide to vote this time but I have got to get back in the swing of things.
I'm not voting for Trump, I'm voting against Hillary. That may not sound good but I have no other choice
until the Repubs wake up and elect a decent candidate.

Again, I'm not arguing with you Oceansoul. You certainly have a right to your opinion. We are only discussing.
Be happy. Hope you feel better Confusedmile:

Alright then and thanks. If you choose candidates who will make most Americans nervous to vote for them, then you won't win an election and that includes if their views and platform doesn't resonate with them enough or pushes them away.

but it was hard to get away from it and still hear what Hillary had to say about this little girl.
The guy with the blue tie tells a little of what Hillary had to say about the child. She should be ashamed of herself!!
No one asks to be raped. I am a victim. It scars someone for life. Believe me.
What she put that child through for that, I have no respect for Hillary at all.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear you were raped Linda. No one should have to live through that.

As for the video, I couldn't make it to blue tie guy; too biased. Also too inaccurate. Clinton didn't take the case as private counsel; she was appointed by the Court.

I then got to too-much-gel-in-hair-guy saying that he couldn't support someone who got a known rapist off on a "technicality." I know its tough to hear and accept, but that's her job. She had to. She couldn't just say "screw this guy, I don't like him." Lawyers take an oath to uphold the Constitution; the Constitution guarantees a fair trial. We don't get to pick and choose who deserves our efforts at defense. He had the right to Clinton's best attempts to defend him. Anything less would be unethical and against the Constitution she swore to uphold.

An interesting perspective I read years ago on the topic that I think everyone would be served taking the time to read; http://digitalcommons.lmu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2007&context=llr

And some further reading on the Shelton case, just to counter-act the overly and overtly biased "The Five" clip; https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2016/10/11/the-facts-about-hillary-clinton-and-the-kathy-shelton-rape-case/

No one should have to go through something like that, and it's heartbreaking that someone hurt you like that. I'm sorry.

I know people in my life who have been raped or molested and it absolutely sickens me when I see the guilty party get away with it and I have seen them walk free even being allowed near children and my home state nor local court will do anything. However, everyone has the right to a fair trial and that means having a defense attorney if someone has potentially committed a crime. But yeah, I do get angry when I hear of a guy who gets a slap on the wrist from a judge or walks away scott free or a light sentence.

I missed that LMD. Thanks for catching the inaccurate report. You are right. Hillary was appointed by a Judge.
Thank you both for the sympathy (You and Oceansoul). I appreciate that!!

that's exactly why we have prosecuting and defence lawyers....
the prosecuting lawyers aim for the highest punishment on offer if someone is found guilty, a defence lawyer aims to get the lightest sentence if found guilty...
like you said Ocean, everybody has the right to a fair trial regardless of innocence or guilt, and until youre proven guilty, you are considered innocent of charges...

Right, yes you are considered innocent until proven guilty in the justice system. That's why police officers have to tell you your Miranda Rights so you are aware that you can contact a lawyer or an attorney if you're arrested and to not make self-incriminating statements. They also have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that someone is guilty of a crime. Sometimes, innocent people wind up in prison though and that's what the US justice system tries to prevent from happening.

This is a Discussion Board. I am only trying to keep it fair and balanced. I have nothing against you. I don't even know you.
I apologize for the Hillary lovers comment but it just seems that the majority of Americans have a love affair with the Clintons.
They can do no wrong to most.
Btw, lovers is more than one. So not really aimed at only you. But, like I said I do apologize.

I wasn't aware there were staunch Clinton supporters on this forum???

I just assumed from the comments that we just dislike Trump than we dislike her....

anyway, at least she is respected by Government's outside the US, they will have no problem getting along with her...Trump on the other hand, that's a different thing altogether, he will inflame conflict rather than negotiate...

and whats worse, he will ultimately be the guy with his "finger on the button of world annihilation"....Jesus Christ!

My bad. I was under the impression that most here were more liberal so would side with Hillary more as Pres.
