Oregon – I’m not even sure how to peg them. Jazz fusion is probably closest – marvellous, sophisticated sounds! I'll be listening to a lot more of them.

This is from their 1979 album Roots in the Sky – it’s eclectically high-end IMHO, and innovative, even more so since they made it 36 years ago – sounds as though it might have been pressed yesterday. Music to get lost in; I love it.

I have been enjoying jazz documentaries lately! They are only about an hour long,,,just perfect to hold my attention! The Art of Improvisation by Keith Jarrett is phenomenal...he isn't human..and he can also wail on the soprano sax and he can sing!!!! He is all over the place, jazz standards, avant garde free jazz, classical, blues, it's all here! My introductory post to MD was Keith Jarrett's The Koln Concert!

The John Coltrane doc was fascinating as was the four albums that changed Jazz in 1959! Up next...Yusef Lateef...looking forward to this one!

An archival outfit, Reelin' in the Years Productions, has a hefty and growing catalog of all kinds of non-Classical, Western music. However, they have a set of Jazz performance videos that is outstanding/prize-worthy--Jazz Icons. They come 6 or 9 to a set (9+ hours of music) 1 DVD per artist. Available individually but the sets come with a Bonus Disc NOT much to be had on the market (they are prized). Have a quick look and convince yourself.:

Not that I don't enjoy docs and dramas...but a concert is set it and forget it : http://jazzicons.com/index1.html

Yes indeed, Oregon are hard to categorise, such contemplative music and each member have released worthy albums also!

What FeedMe has brought us is a concept album that works beautifully--21 Northern Hemisphere songs from different genres done in Bossa Nova style. Terrif instrumentation and arrangements. In English by (presumably) Brazilian singers. For a list of songs and artists, click on the YT logo, then "Show More". All office/retail shop friendly but not flaccid Muzak. Not available as hard-copy--YT only...but then we have it here always, don't we?
