What Did You Buy? - SteveO - 13-08-2015 You have been a busy beaver my friend! CDs or vinyl or both? Some very interesting unknowns here! James Carter--the Real Quietstorm L.A. Workshop--Norwegian Wood Rebecca Parris--You Don't Know Me AND A Passionate Fling HagFish--...Rocks Your Lame Ass Various--Nuyorican Soul What Did You Buy? - jazzboCR - 14-08-2015 James Carter is a bedrock in smooth jazz/quiet storm music. From the women themselves, I hear--a hot bath with the kids elsewhere, some candles and aromatics, and somebody like JC in the background--all the pain of life may not go away but it sure is held at bay for awhile. L.A. Workshokp is one of those ad-hoc, put -together-for the-occasion groups. AMG has a nice write-up on them...and look at the players! Rebecca Parris is a singer that just makes my heart melt and tears to follow. Whoever left them for me to find had serious good taste. Hagfish--Took a real flyer on this one--worked out well for me both musically and at The Usual Suspect: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/hagfish-mn0000661226/biography Nuyorican Soul--Not a Fania Records Latin pop record comp (as great as they are)==no, this is Latin jazz, some kind of advanced. An unexpected pleasure-- I bought it because the cover art was the same as cigar box cover art. What Did You Buy? - SteveO - 14-08-2015 Wow, nice buys Jazzy! What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 17-08-2015 What happens when waves of ZZ Topâs Fandango! played with extra loud abandon, and absolutely no distortion, on a cracking vintage system, arrest you as youâre walking past a shop you had no intention of entering? Blithely ignoring the budget, I now own these two records (and never the twain shall meet), LOL! Very pleased to add some more of John Renbourn & Co. BUE ÃYSTER CULT - Cultösaurus Erectus PENTANGLE - Cruel Sister What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-08-2015 i love that Blue Oyster Cult cover Ruby....it'd be worth buying for that alone IMO. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-08-2015 two birthday giftcard purchases today.... ![]() LOU REED "transformer" he's always been a 'one album wonder' to me with "new York".... lets see if this one makes him a "two album wonder"! and..... ![]() THE PIXIES "Doolittle" I liked what I heard when MH posted a couple of their albums a while back, and with it being on special I couldn't resist getting it! What Did You Buy? - Music Head - 18-08-2015 ^^ sweet 2 great albums there if you like Transformer get Berlin neither will be like New York though What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 18-08-2015 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:i love that Blue Oyster Cult cover Ruby....it'd be worth buying for that alone IMO. Yeah â it is an eye-catching cover. There are some amusing sketches on the back too â of creatures thought to be the relatives of the Horn-Swooped Bungo Pony, and other such curiosities, courtesy of the âNew York Museum of Diz-Bustologyâ, and âThe Underbelly Instituteâ! Oddly enough, Transformer was directly behind todayâs purchase in the record rack. I might buy it if only for "Perfect Day", but naturally, something completely different caught my eye!! This was apparently inspired by a visit to the Nambung National Park, Western Oz. EDGAR FROESE â Pinnacles ![]() What Did You Buy? - jazzboCR - 19-08-2015 A few more...these are definitely NOT penny-poppers: Dr. Herb Silverstein--Hear at the Plaza Ernie Southern--Prozac Blues Various--Burning for Buddy--a tribute to Buddy Rich Art Tatum--Piano Genius Earl "Fatha" Hines--Jazz Classics Earl Hines--Solo Piano Ray Anthony and his Orchestra--In the Miller Mood Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis Big Band--Trane Whistle various--Virgil Fox Memorial Concert A 2-CD set Sam Cockrell and the Groove--ColorBlind Joey Gilmore--Just Call Me...Joey Rosie Flores--Dance Hall Dreams Sam Butera and the Wildest--The Whole World Loves Italians Leonard Slatkin/St. Louis Symphony--Leroy Anderson Favorites John Williams/ Boston Pops Orchestra--Night and Day Judy Garland/ Bing Crosby--Mail Call Kiri Te Kanawa--Kiri Sings Gershwin What Did You Buy? - jazzboCR - 19-08-2015 And again, the braggadocio flows.... Lonnie Brooks--Bayou Lightning Strikes--Live from Chicago Tailgators--Swamp's Up Great American Composers series--Sammy Cahn a 2 CD set Four Freshmen--Day by Day Los Straitjackets--The Utterly Fantastic and Totally Unbelievable Sound Of Beausoleil-- Live! From the Left Coast Herbie Mann--Deep Pocket Joe Williams--Nothin' But the Blues My best, most unexpected get was a cassette buried in a banana box of Mantovani, solo pianists, big band compilations and the like... Little Richard did a kid's album and brought his magic: http://www.allmusic.com/album/shake-it-all-about-mw0000180297 |
