But I think I'll stay mile:
What 's the weather like where you are ? - SteveO - 19-09-2011 Poisonous snakes ???? My cat was having a blast with it! I hate snakes! My brother-in-law was here when we found the scary one on the patio and was brave enough to scoop it up with something and get it out. I would have just locked my doors and stayed inside until someone came to rescue me lol What 's the weather like where you are ? - SteveO - 19-09-2011 Uh... on second thought , maybe I'll stay here in Nova Scotia and put up with the crappy weather after all ! I don't mind snakes but not ones that can kill you !!!! I've only been there once and I was too young to remember it. What 's the weather like where you are ? - SteveO - 20-09-2011 Yes I can say it is a land of spatial beauty ! The Pacific on the west coast with beautiful Rockie Mountains, green ocean water, lots of dolphins and huge Douglas fir trrees, Then Alberta where evilB lives, gorgeous Lake Louise , Banff and Jasper National Parks,,,home of the Calgary Stampede, lots of oil, no SALES TAX !!!...lol, Then next working our way from west to east, it's the prairie province of Saskatchewan with its vast fields of golden wheat swaying in the wind it can remind you of a Gold Sea ! Then off to Manitoba , the last Western Province with its bounty of lakes and natural beauty. Home of the Guess Who (American Woman fame). To the east to Ontario, Toronto is there, Canada's largest city ! Ontario has the majority of Canada's (population in southern Ontario, Great Lakes are there...Lake Ontario and several rivers and lakes thus The Cottage Country. Then we have Quebec - in my opinion the most interesting province (we have provinces like your states). That's where our MD member Drealm lives. A mixture of Frenck speaking and English speaking citizens. Home of the second largest city in Canada, Montreal ! That's where my favorite hocket team is - Les Canadiens ! The Laurentian Mountains and the huge St.Lawrence River . The French are very joyous people IMHO ! They also have a vibrant music and arts culture in Quebec...my favorite province !...Joie de Vivre !!!! Now on to the Atlantic Provinces along the Atlantic Ocean. - New Brunswick - I lived there for 11 years . Moncton gets a lot of great outdoor concerts at Magnetic Hill.,,,Stones, Maroon 5, ACDC, Eagles, John Fogerty, Arcade Fire, U2 to name a few ! The beaches are fabulous , lots of lobster to be eaten ! Nice crisp cold winters like all the other provinces except for British Columbia along the Pacific. Nova Scotia, where I live and was born(Amherst, home of singer Feist (Leslie Feist). Halifax the capital has a population of 400,000. I live across the harbour from Halifax in Dartmouth, a smaller city. Nova Scotia is known as the Ocean Playground...lots of beaches and lobster !!! Cape Breton Isalnd linked to the Nova Scotia mainland by causeway. Home of a rich musical heritage of Celtic music...home of the Rankin Family group and many others. A very picturesque part of the world ! Now off to Prince Edward Island with world famous beaches and home of the famous Anne of Green Gables ! Then we have Newfoundland Labrador - known as The Rock....very rugged scenery of beauty....ocean and forest with a bounty of wildlife. Another province of rich musical history dominated by the Irish descendants ! Last but not least, The Canadian Arctic of Yukon and Nunuvit. Lots of snow and home of what most foreigners know as Eskimos, Polar bears and igloos, land of The Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights. Yes I'd say it's a beautiful country ! To each their own I guess. My sister loved it, for over 30 years. I stuck it out for 3 back in the 80's before bailing. Down there for over a month with 3 trips this year. If you like temps in the 90's for near 9 months out of the year, it may be your thing. The other 3 are pretty nice, but you can have the rest of the year. Speaking of snakes, when I lived there, I rode a motorcycle to work. The back rode I drove had a canal on both sides of it. Practically every day I would dodge a snake or 2 or 3 crossing it, to get to the other side I guess. What 's the weather like where you are ? - Tiggi - 27-09-2011 Indian summer has arrived. Mid-20s C, which is unusual for the UK in late September. What 's the weather like where you are ? - bjgeiger - 27-09-2011 Still hot and dry in Texas. Watering my trees in rotation. At least I have a deep water well. |
