...disc 1 complete, disc 2 on now,transfers well to the cd format,mind you, my vinyl version is 30yrs old and a bit worn now, only wished i'd bought the cd version earlier....countdown to what i think of The Wall has started....dont think there'll be any surprises,should rate reasonably well,Tiggi and Jerome will be happy to know that.

"SPEED OF SOUND" WINGS

this album was released in 1976, was Wings' 5th album and Maccas 7th since the Beatles split. after two great albums ('band on the run' and 'venus and mars') this was/is a huge dissapointment. 5 of the 11 tracks were sung by other members of the group and/or written by other members. to me it is the second worst album of Paul McCartneys illustrious career,the worst being the woeful Wings Wildlife album from1972.
there seems to be a total lack of committment with this album,theres only four tracks worthy of being called 'mccartney' songs, the rest arent worthy of b-side material at any stage of Pauls 48 year career in music, theres a lot of nothing songs, nothing melodies and woeful lyrics here. still, the album spent 7wks at #1 in the US charts and reached #2 in the UK charts. two hugely popular singles from the album:
Silly Love Songs: #1 in US, #2 in UK
Let 'em In: #3 in US and #2 in UK
were still not enough to call this a good album

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM:

best track/s: the two singles
worst tracks: 'cook of the house'(linda vocals) and 'the note you never wrote'(denny laine vocals)

I thought I did.
That's why I was surprised at the low rating.
But I would would really have to listen again to give it an honest rating.

well i used to like it back in the day, but it didnt fair too well today...you know how it is,time passes and it aint what you thought it was 20yrs ago.
i like 'tangier' so ive obviously got no taste in music....Tiggi and Jerome will vouch for that,im sure, LOL

That's why I like pulling out these old albums that I haven't heard in years, to see if my opinion has changed.
