To be crass: There is a decided advantage to living in a place where folks live their last years--their heirs want nothing to do with the stuff and donate it all for the tax advantage. So yo' boy scoops up the bargoons...

What Did You Buy? - Jane Ashy - 13-07-2015

Why not to use external media driver or just clouds???
If your collection of CDs would disappear due to fire or rain or any other thing... lol. How would you listen to your favorite tracks then?.. ))
The Endless River by Pink Floyd & other albums that are constructed as linked pieces.....Yes, I listen them fully. Why not to create some folders to keep & listen such albums separately?
Thus TrackRack http://trackrack.org/ is a reasonable choice. Even for old music fans ;-)

jazzboCR Wrote:You are free to do any legal thing you wish and I'd be in the front-lines defending you BUT what if there's a cloudburst or the stick goes missing or you suffer a nasty computer crash? What happens to the music? Do you often go back and listen to what''s been DL'd last year? Also some albums aren't just some tunes thrown together; they are constructed as linked pieces, designed to be heard in order--do you keep such albums together? It seems music is being increasingly splintered and commodified. Partially because of this, music has faded meaning unless you go to the alternates, the margins. Which fortunately are thriving and info about them is too. The mainstream is becoming way too bland and predictable--is that where R&R and other formerly outlaw music has wound up? I specifically include rap.
This is not a personal attack, Ms. Ashy--after all I guessing you were shaped in and by the modern world and I can be huffy and stuffy...

The answer to Sistah Jane Ashy's sort-of question--The cloud can dissipate; the list of my CDs in a lockbox won't. I will get compensated if my house goes up in a cloud of smoke. Hard copy with a list kept seperatly is always preferable to the ephemeral. Next question?

In 2008, I bought an Thriller 25th anniversary in 2008. It was so special album to me. Because at that time saved money to buy Michael Jackson album. These days I can buy albums.

It's sounds at least strange 4 me 2 keep music in a lockbox like the dearest treasure of mine. Lol
I wonder what size of a safe it should be to keep thousand of albums or million of tracks )) The music I download from http://trackrack.org/ belongs 2 me the same way your CDs belong 2 you with the only difference: I don't need a lockbox to keep my music in, cause the tracks are anyway safe on my pc, in my mobile & stereo system. That's why free music downloader is my choice, dude.

Busy reading 'Mind Over Matter' - amazing how Storm came up with ideas for album covers - a true visionary.

George Harrison - Thirty Three & 1/3 – vinyl. It’s been popping up here and there during online investigations, and staring at me from the front of the record store stack (great artwork – a gatefold with pics of all the muso’s and a sunny image of George) … so – I caved, and bought it!
