Positive and immediate. The National Res got first attention, but his playing that tough, so-true song kept me. Here's a couple of others:

Young trombone and trumpet virtuoso from New Orleans...this album is a cracker....uptempo with unbelievable solos from Shorty!

He's one of those guys immensely talented, seemingly appearing from out of the blue, who is at once everywhere and in all manner of projects, whether it's playing in them or using his juice to get them done. Haven't heard him dud yet--we are blessed by his presence and energy. Here's his Website but it doesn't begin to cover everything he's involved with: http://www.tromboneshorty.com/ Here's AMG on his latest album--the reviewer says it should be his break-out album: http://www.allmusic.com/album/say-that-to-say-this-mw0002563616
YouTube's got a ton of his stuff--here's a 1-hr concert from Red Rocks a year ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V42wgWmhYFg

Here's that album's write-up http://www.allmusic.com/album/somethin-else-mw0000247835 << Miles Davis didn't do sideman very often--payback, yes, but a mark of deep respect also. And here's the piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3Lc7OgIngE << Am I wrong to use "transcendent" about this? 'Cuz it sure takes me to different, better place...

And here's a live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3h9t7nQP4g He's still doin' it as his Website attests: http://www.johnnyrivers.com/jr/ << bet that was a kickin' concert

Don't you have great taste! 10 discs in 17 years and every one's a killer. Hard times and troubles just won't leave this woman alone...fortunately for us, she channels all that pain into singing and, lately, song-writing. The disc you mentioned was last year's record (and that song was "Song of the Year"); got a brand-new piece out last month called Original Here's AMG on it and some tunes: http://www.allmusic.com/album/original-mw0002667163 << 5 picks to click out of 11 songs--how's that for a track record?

RUMER "boys dont cry" cd,2012.

did this one as a new release back in early 2012, liked it so i bought it...
this is Rumer's second album, her first, "seasons of my soul" was superb IMO,all tracks were originals, this one however, is a covers album, now fortunately for me i dont know the originals so this is an original album to me!
i love her voice also,so mellow and relaxing IMO(karen carpenter has the same effect on me)
i cant rate anything here as a 'love' score because i know they are covers...just dont want to say i love anything then go and hear the originals then turn around and look like an idiot when i revisit these tracks..nothing on here i dont like neither which gices the album an overall score of 2.0
not doing all the tracks here, but here are a couple of tracks that i really, really like...

"p.f.sloan"

"sara smile"

Nice find and share. Here's that song with the guy who wrote it, Darryl Hall, during his Webcast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-ivYeMUhME How about another from the same session?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5hzeKlRYNM
One of her own on Later...with Jools Holland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbXoUSTapUE

And no spring chicken this but a fascinating backstory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumer_%28musician%29

PERRY COMO "16 most requested songs" cd, 1996

never been a big fan of Perry, but i do love somg of his material...and fortunately, those great songs all feature on this el-cheapo 'budget collection' compilation album...
ive always found his style of crooning to be somewhere between Burl Ives(when he does his lighthearted material) and almost Dean Martin-ish when he sings his serious material ala "for the good times" type stuff...
a well respected cabaret singer, infact respected by most 'real singers' of all genres and also gave the world some of the best versions of standards ever(whether his own songs or covers)
all up a pretty good album IMO, cant see myself buying any others by him because this one has my favourite tracks on it!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM
