We have some trigger happy cops here too.
They are like our Drs. here. Some undertrained and young but some who are fighting for their life everyday and are great cops.

A college kid whose dad is a lawyer was shot and killed by a cop here who said the young guy had guns.
No guns were found. The cop shot him through his closed front door and even killed his dog.
Evidence was removed and the cop was set free.

Yes, there are great cops here and I know some of them too. Being a police officer is dangerous so I understand they can get in difficult situations but I think there are cops who do get trigger happy and opt to shoot first sometimes without thinking about it.
More information has come out about the case, seems like King made some poor choices and rushed at the police officers with his bb gun as well, that's definitely a way to get yourself killed. :frown: Shame.

Wow, that's crazy. Why is it that in some places when a cop commits crimes they are considered above the law? That's how some of the rotten ones get away with these things. Sigh.

criminals all over the world have guns but nowhere has the gun related crime the US does so that argument/comments/statement gets blown out of the water Linda!
and all these comments you make about "we need guns to protect ourselves against the bad guys" is also BS,
you don't hear about good guys using their guns to take down mass murderers in your schools, and even more recently in that club shooting in Florida,
its a lame excuse because you guys never use your guns to take them down, they either commit suicide or the cops kill them so what is the real reason you need them???
you cant say having guns is a deterent neither, a deterent against what? your gun related crime is way out of hand.
Australia and Canada have as many guns per head of population that that the US does but both of those countries don't have anywhere near the same level
of gun related crime/murders that the US does,
so you have to ask yourself why is that?
maybe you should travel the world and see what goes on in other countries...
we all have homelessness, druggies, bikie gangs and other gangs....
its a worldwide phenomenon, its not just an exclusive issue the US has....
like I said further up the page, other countries have the same amount of guns as the US does, the difference is,
these other countries have strict laws on the licencing and purchasing of weapons....
whatever, youre just going to stay blinded by the "we need them to protect ourselves against bad guys" BS instead of focusing on the
problem of firearms and how to solve the issue of it.
as a footnote:
are you aware that the majority of frontline Police in the UK don't carry firearms as part of their job,
they have all the Eastern European drug gangs out there and the bikie gangs but their police manage to do their job just fine.

Unfortunately, if a US Police officer doesn't carry firearms, that makes them vulnerable to criminals who do have them. There are so many guns here now that dangerous people can get them too. I agree that the NRA just wants people to drink their Kool-Aid though.
Now that I keep thinking about it it seems most criminals get them from other licensed guns more often than not. So apart of the problem are people who give their firearms to these guys who go on shootings. I guess they could get it through illegal means, but it's not necessary.

I have never used my guns to hurt anyone but if someone does break in my house I just might have to defend myself period!

Btw, do you actually think these criminals are getting their guns legally. Therefore, gun control will not stop them from getting guns.
I don't need to travel the world over to deal with what is going on here. We live here not in the rest of the world.
