WILLIE NELSON "red headed stranger" cd, 1975

career stats:
studio albums.........68
singles..................185

this album.................................#1 US Country...#28 US...#9 CAN Country...#90 CAN...#88 AU
singles:
"blue eyes crying in the rain".......#1 US Country...#21 US...#2 CAN Country...#40 CAN...#57 AU
"remember me".........................#2 US Country...#67 US...#6 CAN Country...#78 CAN

I don't call him country but the so-called experts call him country so here he goes....
Willie's eighteenth studio album....
and the first of his to make any impression on the international charts...
I like this album, would have been better had it not contained four pointless, stupid instrumentals which let the album down IMO....
other than that its typical Willie....
a bit bluesy, a bit jazzy, a bit country but ALL Willie...
a couple of covers(I don't know why he needed to record covers back in the day as it seems he was writing hits for just about every major artist
from Texas to Tennessee), a couple of traditional tracks also reworked to make them his own, and eight or nine originals...
you either like Willie or you don't, if you don't, then you probably haven't been bothered reading this or clicking on the link, if you do then,
you'll click on the link and enjoy my favourite track....

his best album for me

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-08-2015

even with those instrumentals????

very few of his albums score a love rating with me but they generally come in between 2.0 and 2.3, the odd one sneaks in with a love score though.

I do declare I just love Conway.
Went to his house and saw him in concert twice Confusedmile:
No mater what kind of country anyone likes you can't
ask for anyone better than Conway.
Shame he left way too soon!

BTW, I have not heard anything from Willie I did not like.
And he can beat the you know what out of Trigger.
I love hearing him play that guitar that I have played

GENE PITNEY "the platinum collection" cd, 2006

career stats:
studio albums.............29
singles.......................66

this is a three cd set,
I will post each disc as I listen to it over the next few days...
a compilation of fifty tracks which includes all of his chart entries in the US,UK,AU and NZ between 1960 and 1970...
it also includes several tracks he recorded in Italian for the Italian market(as he was a frequent visitor to "Europe's boot"
this first disc contains seventeen tracks...
this disc contains what I call his cringeworthy track....if I didn't have a dime, which I simply cannot stand...
I hate that one as much as I hate Roy's "penny arcade" and the one about the pearl diver(that was leah from memory).
but I can forgive him for that little fault...
also, I never know where to put Gene as he made pop and country, but country it is this time!

I LOVE THIS DISC

worst track: if I didn't have a dime
best track: the man who shot liberty valance

2...only love can break a heart ***

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-09-2015

i guess that compared to "if I didn't have a dime" just about anything is a 'classic' LMAO.

I never used to like Mecca, but its grown on me over the years....

oh well,
two discs to go, im sure i'll raise your eyebrows somewhere along the way mate.
