RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-10-2021 not a news article: i just went on Wiki and typed in "most devastating epidemics" and a page came up ranking major epidemics over the centuries: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_epidemics#:~:text=Epidemics%20and%20pandemics%20with%20at%20least%201%20million,%20%20%20%2015%20more%20rows%20 the interesting part was that the Current Covid pandemic ranks at #6 for Global deaths. and even more interesting is that the article estimates up to 19 million people could have died from it so far, well over the 4.9 million official deaths. i dont think that number would be too far from the truth with all the secrecy in China, the apparent zero cases in Nth Korea and the less than professional medical services in African and other Third World countries. on a different subject: actor Alec Baldwin shoots and kills a cinematogprapher on the set of his latest movie... https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/alec-baldwin-fires-prop-gun-killing-cinematographer-halyna-hutchins-on-set-of-latest-film/ar-AAPOyNJ?ocid=msedgntp im showing some ignorance here with such things but.... how does a 'prop gun' fire a projectile, let alone a projectile powerful enough to kill someone??? RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-10-2021 seems like Ed Sheeran now has Covid: https://www.msn.com/en-au/entertainment/celebrity/ed-sheeran-tests-positive-for-covid-19/ar-AAPUaC8?ocid=msedgntp not really news but i thought it was funny and worth the two minute watch IMO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSuregWhlWk&list=RDnSuregWhlWk&start_radio=1 RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-10-2021 South African wicketkeeper/batsman Quinton De Cock looks certain to be axed from the National cricket team after refusing to 'take the knee' in the T20 World Cup match against West Indies overnight... yet again, politics and Woke entet domains where they dont belong (sport)... https://www.msn.com/en-au/sport/more-sports/star-may-never-play-again-after-bombshell-exit/ar-AAPXZOR?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531 totally different news here: and now i think ive read/heard it all in relation to Covid: https://www.popsci.com/science/zoo-animals-covid-vaccines-us/ RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - JeromeD - 29-10-2021 I have been watching this whole gender identity thing unfold with some amusement lately. It seems the self-serving 'gender identity freedom movement' have now made things so complicated that they are starting to squabble amongst themselves. Let's get some things straight - there are men and women and in very rare circumstances - hermaphrodites. Anything other than that is a human-made-up mess. Pure and simple. Let's be clear here - there are men who prefer men & women who prefer women. I have no problem with that at all. Good luck to them if they find happiness with a person of the same gender. Not my cup of tea but each to their own. But when humans can't accept the fact that they are either male or female anatomically, then they have a very different problem indeed. History shows that whenever humans screw with nature they basically create a new problem where one did not exist before. The chicken always comes home to roost. And what is even more interesting is the fact that this has all come about since the introduction of social media sites. The 'freedom of speech' movement are very quick to shut someone down when that person's views are diametrically opposed to their own. Then 'freedom of speech' does not seem to apply equally to all. But everyone forgets - with freedom comes greater responsibility - always! Confusion reigns supreme... https://uk.yahoo.com/news/bbc-rigorously-defends-anti-trans-124728893.html Sad that a seasoned academic has to be forced out of her profession by a bunch of clowns who have not even matured yet. Simply because it's the latest fashion trend. It's a disgrace. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/trans-row-professor-quits-university-184459517.html RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-10-2021 ^^ well said Jerome. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-10-2021 i guess you learn somehting every day because i had no idea these even existed here! https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/blood-sucking-fish-with-swirling-teeth-spotted-after-20-year-hunt/ar-AAQ5igT?ocid=msedgntp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Ruby - 31-10-2021 (29-10-2021, 06:50)JeromeD Wrote: I have been watching this whole gender identity thing unfold with some amusement lately. Critical thinking seems to be a thing of the past. Unfortunately. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Ruby - 31-10-2021 We're back to load shedding - Stage 4 which means up to 7 hours a day without any power - so bad! Load shedding has been suspended over the weekend, no doubt due to the general election taking place tomorrow. I think they tried to avoid implementing it at all prior to said elections, for obvious reasons, but Eskom, our national provider, just doesn't seem to have capacity. Big problem!! I already have gas for cooking and heating water, next stop a solar inverter. At least we still have the sun!! https://businesstech.co.za/news/energy/532882/load-shedding-in-south-africa-is-about-to-get-much-worse-analyst/
RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-11-2021 Hmmm!, interesting article. and if it happens it could end up a worldwide phenomenom https://www.msn.com/en-au/lifestyle/smart-living/why-millions-of-aussies-are-expected-to-leave-their-jobs-in-2022/ar-AAQ8SPN?ocid=msedgntp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-11-2021 Jon Bon Jovi tests positive for Covid... https://www.msn.com/en-au/entertainment/other/jon-bon-jovi-forced-to-cancel-concert-after-testing-positive-for-covid-19/ar-AAQbCVK?ocid=msedgntp |
