^I have a soft spot for Roger Whittaker and his songs - he’s earned his troubadour stripes IMO. The whistling is phenomenal … doesn’t seem possible!

Angelo Badalamenti, born in Brooklyn, New York on this day in 1937. It was he that composed this most memorable of themes from Twin Peaks (which I watched religiously until it veered off into beyond the bizarre!) -

Carol Kaye, ‘First Lady of Bass’ turns 80 today. If you think you’ve never heard her, chances are you’re mistaken! She is known to have made over 10,000 recordings in her 55 year career as a bass guitarist and is one of the most widely heard session musicians ever. She was a member of ‘The Wrecking Crew’, a group of highly successful, versatile session musicians who backed loads of popular singers in the 60’s, as well as working on soundtracks, jingles, … pretty much anything that came their way, and she didn’t stop there – her recordings span four decades. The tip of the iceberg of Ms Kaye’s listed credits would be with the likes of … The Beach Boys, Nancy Sinatra, Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Barbara Streisand, The Righteous Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Zappa, etc., etc.

There’s a made for TV movie about her – First Lady of Bass, and a 2008 doccie about The Wrecking Crew which looks fascinating –
