RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 09-09-2017 (07-09-2017, 18:06)Oceansoul Wrote: Barbuda got a direct hit from Irma and has been left in shambles. Wow. There is serious damage in St. Martin as well. My heart goes out to all the islands who were in the path of that cat 5 hurricane. I have to say though with all the hurricanes I have been through from listening to the Weather Channel this morning some need to learn from experience. I knew last night that storm was not going to go through the middle of Fla. One woman from the Weather Channel said the storm winds were moving from east to west not west to east ![]() Hurricane winds always move from east to west. That is the way they spin. That is coming in from the Atlantic. If Irma does not turn pretty soon it will miss Fla. all together. Sometimes the Weather Channel tells folks to get out too early. They did that with Hugo. People left here to go to Charlotte. That is where the storm here in N.C. was the worse. Sometimes when we leave too early we may run right in the storm. A hurricane can change on a dime. But, with that said Irma has a history of moving west. With Cuba breaking it somewhat apart no telling what it will do but it is still going west. The stupid governor in Fla. said this morning the storm is here. It is not. We don't say our storms are here unless the eye is coming our way. If I were in Savannah, I would not leave as they are saying unless I lived in a trailer. Not to say right now the storm will not hit Fla. I hope it does not!! Just saying if the WC is right it needs to turn soon and reorganize. Outer bands are not the hurricane. Most tornados are on the back side of hurricanes. The back side is much worse. I prepared as much as I needed but I diid not over prepare (gas , water, and a little food). Watching the storm and the spin it was taking I knew when they had us in the red it was not going to hit us. The gas pumps here were saying out of sevice as early as Thursday but I got one in service and topped off my tank. They are holding back the gas. They have gas but have yellow ribbons on the tanks out of service. So, pass that info along if you will. If folks are coming up this way, there is gas. Getting back to Hugo, it was coming in so unusally fast here (over 20mph) it did not have much time to cause damage here but we did get twisters as the back side past. As usual it was at night. It slowed down once it past some land and that is what caused the most damage inland. Irma now a cat 3. 125mph winds. That is what Diana was when it hit us. Still a strong hurricane. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 10-09-2017 Well, Irma has finally turned and a cat4. Which is not good for Fla. but could be worse if the storm had went directly through the middle of Fla. The Keys are said to be under water. Sorry for those people down there!! Hope everyone is okay!! Mike Sidel is fighting some fierce winds in Miami basically because of the Atlantic. It has been windy here since yesterday morning and getting more steady even this far away but we are on the Atlantic too which even though the storm is far away the Atlantic is churning. Wind gusts could go up to 50mph tomorrow. It has been cool at night here. In the 50s. So that is good for us. Hope no more hurricanes!! RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 10-09-2017 Irma has lost it's southern eyewall so that should help bring the winds down. Good for northern Fla. We are in the possibility of losing power tomorrow. I hope not! RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 11-09-2017 It's been windy here for the last 3 days. Really kicking it up today. Gusts may reach 55mph with a tornado watch. 100% chance of rain tomorrow and windy. Hope the hurricanes are through!! Sorry for the damage in Fla. and all the power that is out. Power outage is rough!! RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 11-09-2017 I have to say if we want to know where a hurricane is going listen to Jim Cantore ![]() He is the expert when it comes to these storms. The so called expert at the WC told him yesterday he was in the eyewall. Jim did not hesitate to tell him no we are not. Cantore has seen enough of these storms and physically been in them, he knows. He was down the road from me years back with his wind monitor measuring the wind speed. He was standing right in the middle of a intersection. He said on TV we hated to see him come here because we knew the storm was coming when Cantore showed up We are thankful he is here when we need him!!Thanks Jim Cantore!! 5.9 million out of power in Fla. as of now. That is unreal! Afraid we may be out of power by tonight. Now they are saying Jose may turn completely around and head toward the east coast. Oh Man!! Funny video with Jim Cantore. So true ![]() RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Frands - 11-09-2017
RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Music Head - 11-09-2017 hey Frands you have been asked about concern about you leaving us don't do it we're just getting started just not sure at what RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Frands - 11-09-2017 ^^ Don't worry, I'm still here and I'm not leaving, but sometimes I'm just busy elsewhere, and in some forums that have nothing to do with music but Internet Security. I have been working with internet security in some forums over the last past 11 years and it means alot to me as well as music does. Sorry if I'm away sometimes.
