RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - SteveO - 31-08-2017 (30-08-2017, 02:33)Lovely Linda Wrote: Storm whimped out here. Way up here in Nova Scotia we have had practically endless summer sunshine for two months! Our summers are short so I am outside every day ! RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 02-09-2017 Pitiful what is going on in Texas!! Watching Trump and First Lady's visit. My heart goes out being a animal lover to the ones who are still being rescued!! Watching Irma. Worried about that one!! We have had rain almost everyday over a month now. That sometimes feeds hurricanes this time of year. Won't being staying here if Irma hits as a Cat. 4. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 04-09-2017 Looks like it may be a exciting weekend next weekend. We are in part of the red for Irma. From Florida through the Carolinas it may hit somewhere through there. We get alot of hurricanes in September. I'll be stocking up early as we run out of supplies here fast. If we get the storm, I'll be here reporting as long as I can as long as we have power anyway. 80% chance of a hit within the US. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - SteveO - 04-09-2017 The dream summer continues into September swimming, hiking, eating, sleeping...lol...Sunny and 21 C or 74 F today on Labour Day ! RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Oceansoul - 05-09-2017 Hurricane Irma looks scary! She's a Cat 5 now. My oldest brother lives in southern Florida and is boarding up his store. He is planning on coming our way to wait out the storm. I would evacuate too. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 06-09-2017 Smart guy!! If anyone is in the path of a 4 or 5 Get Out!! No house here can stand 185mph hurricane. It will take the roofs off. Keep in mind not counting the twisters that are in the hurricane which causes the most wind damage and as we have seen in Houston, the water. I heard on the Weather Channel this older guy saying he had been through several hurricanes and he will not leave his house. If Irma hits his place as a 4 or 5 may be his last hurricane. That is how alot of people lose their lives being stupid. They are saying now that Irma is losing the eyewall and building another and with that it may even get stronger. Hard to imagine a stronger hurricane than 185mph. Interesting but indeed scary!! Pressure is coming down according to the last report. Which means Irmas' winds are getting stronger tonight. We have bad luck with hurricanes hitting at night. Diana in the 80s was one of the worse and our side of town got hit really hard. Me, hubby, and cat spent the night in the bathroom with WGNI as our only connection to the outside. One reporter said he went to our side of town and it was like going into Hell. We had no lights and the trees were falling everywhere. I was looking for only the bathroom to be left when I opened the door the next morning. Diana was full of twisters. I will never forget that night. The next morning the surge was so intense fish were jumping in our yard from the creek behind the house. Now we live near Wrightsville Beach. When a strong storm hits we have no way to get out because of water trees and lines down. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Oceansoul - 06-09-2017 Yeah, this is a strong hurricane. Be safe, Floridians! Definitely prepare for it and evacuate if you're in the path of Irma. I'm reading that some places have designated shelter areas. A state of emergency has been declared. I've heard of Diana, though it happened before I was born. Nature can be both scary and fascinating in it's fury. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Lovely Linda - 06-09-2017 Fran was a bad one too. Came in the Cape Fear River at 135mph. Diana came in at 125mph. Both with alot of twisters. We spent the night at my parents house during Fran. When we finally got back home a tree had went through our roof and my two cats at the time were in the bedroom looking at the floor from the bed at about 3 inches of water on the floor. As far as shelters, Don't trust them with a storm like Irma. Best thing to do is get out. I actually love hurricanes (been through many) but we have to know when to stay and when to get out. When we stay with such a storm we not only endanger ourselves but we endanger the ones trying to rescue us. What gets me are the idiots who surf during a incoming hurricane. Some of the best times we have had with the family were during a hurricane. That is when we all came together. Had to give hubby Diazepam because he has been crying all evening. He said we are going to die and he was not ready to die. It's the dementia. He thinks the storm is going to hit here. It just might but if it is a cat. 4 or 5 coming in, I told him we would not be staying in this house. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Oceansoul - 06-09-2017 Irma is a dangerous storm so I would want to stay out of it's way. You might be right about the shelters in this case. Mandatory evacuations are likely for those in southern Florida and the Florida Keys. Staying safe is important. I'm keeping an eye on it to see what happens. And yeah surfing during a hurricane is a pretty stupid thing to do. RE: What 's the weather like where you are ? - Jerome - 06-09-2017 Marvellous. Going out on a catamaran to see the dolphins.
