.. Best song Cash ever sang. Doesn't hurt that Kris wrote the song. Dreamed about Kris this morning  He had no reason to be intimadated by Cash! Thought that was cute since Kris is one of the best songwriters that ever took a breath Confusedmile: Kris would have made it even if he had not dropped his music in Cash's yard!! Cash had nothing to do with it. It was all Kris

Last top 10 country hit was in 1980 in a duet with Willie but the man was active until his death in 2013. He had 9 #1's over his 57 year career.
That number of hits doesn't look that impressive but making it in this business for that long is. Eight of those # 1's are included on this set.
His peak popularity was mid 60's when country music was bowing to rock. Ray was playing local functions in his Texas hometown when discovered
and signed by obscure Bullet Records. A friendship with Lefty Frizzell led to that. He found his calling and moved to Nashville. On the honky
tonk trail he went after forming his group the Cherokee Cowboys in 1953 which over the years included Roger Miller, Johnny Paycheck and Willie
Nelson. Ray was arrested for marijuana possession in 1999. Claims he got a call from Willie telling him he'd just earned $5 million in free
publicity with the drug bust. Guess Willie would know.

The first Prine collection covering his first 4 albums. His first was a masterpiece followed by 3 fair albums. Actually I coud take his first
album as a best of. Five of the six love tracks on this come from that album. He started label jumping after this was released and now records
only on his own label. Hard to believe John's highest charting album was a weak #55 and that was in 2005. His debut album peaked at #154 and
this collection is his only Gold album. I followed him up to 3 albums after this before I dropped out. Makes me wonder what I've missed.
