TIM HARDIN "the tim hardin memorial album" vinyl, 1981

theres no album cover art work for this one so i popped in a picture of Mr.Hardin for the hell of it!
Tim Hardin....
folk singer/songwriter from the late 1960s through the 1970s...
like most people, i know his songs through the covers that countless artists have done over the decades, that is until i bought this vinyl album some years ago out of curiousity to hear the original versions....
being a folky you can guess his songs are acoustically based...
his voice isnt too bad, a bit plain infact, but theres no denying his influence on a hell of a lot of musicians from John Cash,Small Faces etc right through to Paul Weller.
unfortunately for Tim, his versions are not as good as the covers i know, maybe they would be better had i known those first, but its not to be...
nothing on here i dont like and even a few i love, as i said up the page a bit, this was purely a curiousity purchase from my point of view,
no doubt the guy is talented but i wouldnt go overboard with him....

CMA's Album Of The Year in 1995

Surprise to see how many albums they have. I've got maybe 2 or 3 on vinyl which are ok, then there's this gem, along with Volume 1 which was
ripped off. I think vol. 1 was even better than this one. Now I learn that there is a volume 3 out there that I didn't even know about. Don't
think it's as much NGDB that make these albums work as the supporting cast. This one has Cash, Prine, Denver, Scruggs, Atkins, Leadon, Acuff,
Harris, Hillman, Helm, Hiatt, McGuinn, Murphy, Skaggs. If you don't know most of those names, that's your bad. Some of these tunes are gospel
flavored. Some have appeared on other albums by the featured artist but these takes were exclusively for this compilation. Hard to pick a fav
when you love 10 tracks. And of the 20, will only post a clip for that one. It says these tracks were all recorded in 1 take, with no overdubs.
My kind of music.

An acquaintance of mine! Went to Nashville, gained moderate notoriety and returned home! How many thousands fit into that category?

6th studio album - #22 US

Introduced to me by my son-in-law a few years back, recently picked up their 6th album. I should have started from the beginning. There's too
many at this point. As close to bluegrass as you get these days. My kind of music still lives. I can't take much of the barn burner hoe down
stuff which accounts for the 3 I don't like here but there are 3 love tracks to offset them. Don't see any mention of singles. The album hit #4
on the country chart and #1 on the bluegrass. Yes Billboard has a bluegrass chart. They have way too many charts but you have to make each genre
lover happy.

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-11-2014

no cover art available!

JOHN DENVER "legendary" cd, 1992.

a triple cd set containing fifty shades of John....
pretty much includes most of his singles up till that point...
i love Denver's music, its peaceful, relaxing and his voice....so mellow.
one of the great singer/songwriters IMO....
pretty difficult to pick a favourite of his at the best of times as i always feel like i neglected other tracks,
but on this occasion its even more difficult with twenty-five of the tracks scoring a love rating from me, the remainder, well, i like 'em all...
a great talent, a good man, shame he's no longer with us as i believe he still had a lot to offer musically.
so with that, we get a score of 2.5 for the album...which is bloody good for a fifty track disc...
i cannot be bothered posting all the tracks,in fact i cannot be bothered posting any of them except this one which always seems to be in the first
two or three of his i mention that i love.
so from that collection i give you......
