Weekly Music Charts for 2017 - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-05-2017 UK singles charts for week ending 12th May: ![]() Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee secure their first UK Number 1 single today with a little help from Justin Bieber.Despacito, boosted by a remix featuring the superstar Canadian, notched up 31,000 downloads and 6.2 million streams to clinch the Official Singles Chart top spot this week, becoming Luis and Daddyâs first UK chart toppers, while giving Justin the sixth of his career. Primarily sung in Spanish, Despacito is the first foreign language UK Number 1 single since Gangnam Style by South Koreaâs Psy roared to the top back in September 2012. The last time a Spanish language song topped the chart was October 2011 when Sak Noel partied his way there with holiday anthem Loca People. Additionally, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are the first Puerto Rican artists to score a UK Number 1 single since Ricky Martinâs Livinâ La Vida Loca spent three weeks at the summit in August 1999. Luis Fonsi told OfficialCharts.com: âItâs amazing, Iâm honoured. Itâs my first Number 1 in the UK so itâs definitely a special one. I released the original song earlier this year and itâs slowly found its way to the top of the charts around the world. Iâm so happy this song has connected with people even if they donât necessarily understand the lyrics - itâs great to see people enjoying the vibe and feel of it. "Thank you to Daddy Yankee who is a great artist and a good friend, and now Justin Bieber for jumping on the song simply because he loved the record. Let me tell you, Latino girls are loving Bieberâs Spanish right now!â Justin also features on Iâm The One, last weekâs Number 1 single which drops one place to the runner-up slot (2). The DJ Khaled track also includes Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne. This marks the second time that Justin has knocked himself from Number 1. For Crying Out Loud is Kasabianâs fifth Number 1 album in a row and is their first new collection of material since 2014âs 48:13. The bandâs guitarist Serge Pizzorno thanked the fans in a message to OfficialCharts.com: " Itâs absolutely incredible to have 5 Number 1 albums in a row. Thanks to everyone who has supported us. Jonas Blue last charted with âBy Your Sideâ (#33 Dec. â16). #45: Post Malone âCongratulationsâ â American rapper Post Malone scores his debut ARIA top 50 appearance with âCongratulationsâ. The track, which features a guest spot by Migos member Quavo, comes from Post Maloneâs debut album, Stoney. It includes tracks from the 15 albums released in that period, beginning with 1984âs From Her To Eternity, through to Push The Sky Away (#1 Feb. â13). The band topped the Albums Chart last year with Skeleton Tree (#1 Sept. â16). #15: At The Drive-In âinâ¢ter aâ¢liâ¢aâ â Five years on from reuniting, American post-hardcore band At The Drive-In release their fourth album, inâ¢ter aâ¢liâ¢a. Itâs their first album of new material since Relationship Of Command (#24 Feb. â01). Following their initial split, the band also charted with compilation This Station Is Non-Operational (#34 May â05). #17: San Cisco âThe Waterâ â Fremantle quartet San Cisco returns with The Water. The bandâs third album comes two years on from Gracetown (#2 Mar. â15). San Cisco will be touring nationally through May and June in support of the album. #20: Chris Stapleton âFrom A Room: Volume 1â â American country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton releases his second studio album From A Room: Volume 1. It comes as the follow-up to Traveller (#47 Nov. â15) and gives Stapleton a new Albums Chart peak. #21: Kasabian âFor Crying Out Loudâ â Album sixth from Kasabian gives the Brit rockers their fourth top 50 appearance. For Crying Out Loud comes three years on from 48:13 (#11 Jun. â14). Their highest peak to date was with Velociraptor! (#8 Oct. â11). #22: Asgeir âAfterglowâ â Icelandic singer-songwriter Asgeir releases his second studio album, Afterglow. It comes three years on from In The Silence (#8 Mar. â14). Asgeir will be in Australia in August for Splendour In The Grass and a national tour. #23: Mac DeMarco âThis Old Dogâ â The third album from Mac Demarco gives the Canadian singer-songwriter a second ARIA Albums Chart top 50 appearance. This Old Dog comes three years on from 2014âs Salad Days. In between, Demarco released the mini album Another One (#24 Aug. â14). #25: Logic âEverybodyâ â With his third album, American rapper Logic scores a new peak on the ARIA Albums Chart. The follow-up to The Incredible True Story (#43 Nov. â15), Everybody is Logicâs second album to chart in the top 50 and includes guest appearances by Public Enemyâs Chuck D, Black Thought of The Roots, Killer Mike, Alessia Cara and more. #29: Blondie âPollinatorâ â New wave legends Blondie return with their eleventh studio album. The follow-up to 2014âs The Ghosts Of Download, Pollinator features tracks written for the band by the likes of Sia, Nick Valensi from The Strokes, TV On The Radio's David Sitek, Johnny Marr, Charli XCX and Blood Orangeâs Dev Hynes. Itâs the first Blondie studio release to chart in the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The bandâs only appearances on the chart have been with the remix album Once More Into The Bleach (#47 Feb. â89) and compilation The Complete Picture (#6 Jun. â91); both featured Blondie tracks and solo numbers by front woman Debbie Harry. #33: Pond âThe Weatherâ â Perthâs Pond releases their seventh album in eight years, The Weather. The follow-up to Man It Feels Like Space Again (#15 Feb. â15) was produced by former Pond drummer and Tame Impala leader Kevin Parker. Itâs their third album to chart in the top 50. #35: Motionless In White âGraveyard Shiftâ â American metalcore band Motionless In White picks up their second top 50 appearance with Graveyard Shift. The bandâs fourth studio album comes three years on from Reincarnate (#19 Sept. â14). #37: Diana Krall âTurn Up The Quietâ â With her thirteenth studio album, Canadian singer-songwriter Diana Krall picks up her ninth appearance in the ARIA top 50. Turn Up The Quiet comes two years on from Wildflower (#7 Feb. â15). It features appearances by rapper Future and R&B singer-songwriter Khalid. #42: Harry Styles âSweet Creatureâ â The second solo track to chart in the top 50 for former One Direction member Harry Style. Debuts: #1: Harry Styles âHarry Stylesâ â After topping the ARIA Singles Chart last month with âSign Of The Timesâ (#1 Apr. â17), Harry Styles scores his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with his self-titled debut album. Harry Styles becomes the second album by a former One Direction member to top the Albums Chart, following on from Zayn Malikâs Mind Of Mine (#1 Apr. â16). #3: Paramore âAfter Laughterâ â American band Paramore return with their fifth studio album, After Laughter. Itâs the Tennessee bandâs first album since their self-titled fourth album (#1 Apr. â13) four years ago. The track âStart Overâ features a co-write by Pharrell Williams. #17: Dead Letter Circus âThe Endless Mileâ â To celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut self-titled EP, Brisbane band Dead Letter Circus release The Endless Mile. The album features re-workings of all of the EPâs six tracks, as well as re-interpretations of five tracks from the groupâs three #2 albums: This Is The Warning (#2 May â10), The Catalyst Fire (#2 Aug. â13) and Aesthesis (#2 Aug. â15). #27: Dean Lewis âSame Kind Of Differentâ â Sydney singer-songwriter Dean Lewis picks up his debut appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart with Same Kind Of Different. The six track EP includes Lewisâ debut single âWavesâ, which this week hits a new peak at #12. #29: Seether âPoison The Parishâ â The seventh studio album from Seether gives the South African band their fifth entry in the ARIA top 50 and highest peak to date. Poison The Parish is the follow-up to Isolate And Medicate (#43 Jul. â14). Their previous best was with Disclaimer II (#38 Aug. â04). #37: Machine Gun Kelly âBloomâ â American rapper Machine Gun Kelly returns with third album Bloom. Itâs his second top 50 album, following General Admission (#38 Oct. â15). Bloom includes guest appearances from James Arthur, Hailee Steinfeld, Ty Dolla $ign and more. #38: Midnight Oil âThe Full Tankâ â ARIA Hall Of Fame members Midnight Oil release the career-encompassing box set The Full Tank. The pack features all of the bandâs eleven studio albums, including the #1 albums Red Sails In The Sunset (#1 Nov. â84), Diesel And Dust (#1 Aug. â87) and Blue Sky Mining (#1 Mar. 90). Justin Bieber has held on to claim a third week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.The track notched up 114,000 combined sales to keep its place at the summit â its highest one-week tally to date, split between 51,000 downloads and 9.4 million streams. Despacito is the first Number 1 single by a Puerto Rican singer in the UK since Ricky Martinâs 1999 smash Livinâ La Vida Loca. Both have now logged three weeks at the top. Demi Lovato climbs seven places to Number 18.
