What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-07-2014 thanks Ruby... i will listen to Discovery... as with your reco's Gryphon. What Did You Buy? - Ruby - 29-07-2014 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:thanks Ruby... Great! Discovery has a twelve minute instrumental at the end (which is stunning) and the rest is vocal. His two fully non-instrumental albums are Earth Moving (which doesn't move much for me, unfortunately, even with Adrian Belew on a couple of tracks!) and the new one, Man on the Rocks, which is a bit of a departure, I'd say, and very much 'anthemic' - male voice. I need to listen to it some more to decide whether I like it. What Did You Buy? - gryphon - 29-07-2014 They contain some vocals yes....the odd thing is that Man On The Rocks is mainly vocal but there is a special edition containing some instrumental versions of some tracks........Sadly I'm not that impressed with the album somehow.
What Did You Buy? - SteveO - 29-07-2014 I am partial to the Songs of Distant Earth and Tubular Bells. What Did You Buy? - jazzboCR - 29-07-2014 SteveO Wrote:Tubular Bells. Totally tubular, Dude--live perfs from 3 decades: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7VHRyQDMTM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_86Gm9iclAg << love the music for the Jeep ad--hope that accompanies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7U1fvpuWWU << I cheated--this TB II http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTZyudLLJSU << and again--TB III What Did You Buy? - Music Head - 29-07-2014 SteveO Wrote:I am partial to the Songs of Distant Earth and Tubular Bells.a song has to have vocals What Did You Buy? - jazzboCR - 29-07-2014 Music Head Wrote:a song has to have vocals ...but not necessarily music: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Song%20of%20Songs%201 I feel ya, Bro, but think you are fighting a losing battle, similar to my struggle with folks who use "careen" to mean "rocket wildly from side to side"--the correct word is "career" e.g. "He careered around the course." "Careen" means strictly and only "to turn a ship on its side to scrape off barnacles, etc". Watcha gonna do but rage against the sky and accept. And then there's that all-purpose word, "tunes". What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-07-2014 another three birthday giftcard purchases today.... ![]() BUDDY HOLLY & THE CRICKETS "very best of" another replacement cd for one that went missing?! a 50 track 2 disc set, not as comprehensive as the 3 disc set i used to have, but will still suffice nicely! ![]() JEFF BUCKLEY "grace" i have his "sketches for my sweetheart, the drunk" album... always wanted to get this one and finally have now! ![]() DAFT PUNK "random access memories"....are you proud of me SteveO? this one was 'overkilled' on the radio when it came it and went totally off it... SteveO championed it here on the forum and MH bought it and liked it a while ago also... so i thought it was time to bite the bullet and get it while it was on special What Did You Buy? - mr listener - 30-07-2014 ANTONY & THE JOHNSONS - I Am A Bird Now Heard the song Bird Guhl from the movie "V for Vendetta" and was intrigued by the artist. Picked up this album for $10 at my local retail store and it was quite the gem. Wonderful delivery from Antony Hegarty on vocals and music that blended and transitioned well through the album. Definetly a recommendation on my end. What Did You Buy? - Lovely Linda - 30-07-2014 I saw The Crickets with Waylon Jennings when he came here in the 70s. |
