What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 24-06-2010 Bought the 30th anniversary edition of 'Two for the Show' by Kansas. Remains one of my favourite live albums, alongside 'Seconds Out' and 'The Song Remains the Same' Only to be played EXTREMELY loud. The neighbours are going to call the cops one of these days! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 24-06-2010 from my library (digital) ![]() Pretty good compilation covering the first 8 albums, although just the first 3 are all I need. Only complaint is the few live tracks substituted for the studio, especially Too Rolling Stoned. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Caravan To Midnight Best Track - Bridge Of Sighs The sun don't shine The moon don't move the tides, to wash me clean Sun don't shine The moon don't move the tides, to wash me clean Why so unforgiving and why so cold Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs Cold wind blows The Gods look down in anger, on this poor child Cold wind blows And Gods look down in anger, on this poor child Why so unforgiving and why so cold Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs 1) Day of The Eagle - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D175jn-3_M 2) Caledonia - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW2ljETmqWY 3) Confessin' Midnight - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3g_cAHqo-Y 4) Too Rolling Stoned - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vVAqq_ifWc 5) Bridge Of Sighs - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA6l2KgQ2Kw 6) Man Of The World - * - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2y8Z1YDGIk 7) Take A Fast Train - * - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHPvdvTsN7k 8) Daydream - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Wf83v85oxA 9) Gonna Be More Suspicious - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxsNuTOR_Mg 10) About To Begin - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5c2MwmDyEw 11) Long Misty Days - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR8pJlbrEIQ 12) Alethea - ** - live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxT0K0_eri8 13) In City Dreams - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEfR9I6Yi4I 14) Victims Of The Fury - * - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GakwHPXUOz0 15) Rock Me Baby - ** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKB29ADlqmA 16) The Ring - * - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqldSwMu85I 17) Caravan To Midnight - * - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jelh6BimomM 3's - 5 2's - 7 1's - 5 Rating - 2.0 What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 28-06-2010 ![]() A mediocre Dylan album, which is still largely excellent by any other standard. Love those Gospel B Vox... & Neil Young - After The Goldrush ![]() Ditto, except the mediocre bit. ...and the Gospel bit... & The Band - The Band ![]() ...and this is just ridiculously good. In combination, some of the cream of N. American talent. British invasion ?? Pah... What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 28-06-2010 ^^ Now those are what I'm talkin' about! What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 29-06-2010 Don't know how many American or English members know about this guy. Just as almost every home in the world had a copy of 'Dark Side of the Moon' at some point, every South African home had a copy of Rodriguez - Cold Fact. From the late sixities. Funny thing is he was only really big in SA and OZ I think. He toured SA some years later and did not realise how big he was there. And of course then went back to the record companies to claim all the royalties he had not been paid. If you like Dylan you would do well to check this guy out. Lyrics are incredible. By the way, currently listening to Lee Clayton's 'Naked Child' - awesome. Some samples - enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNcIzQk5bEY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diwYuQ5zyRI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FJ_yCxpjLw What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 29-06-2010 ![]() First solo album from ex-Floyd singer/guitarist/songwriter, released in '70. This is what a tortured, acid-fried genius sounds like in case you've ever wondered. Much of this album consists of pretty rough early takes, which I believe was due to SB's fragile state, and unwillingness to record endless takes. On some of the songs, his writing and performing talent is still present, and many of the songs could have been contenders for Piper at The Gates of Dawn, if given the necessary polish. Some of the others are a bit of a car crash. Uncomfortable listening at times, particularly on the bonus tracks where studio discussions have been included, and Syd is clearly a broken individual. He still managed a further solo album, before turning away from music. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 01-07-2010 listened online ![]() Can't believe these guys are still puttin' stuff out. Thought they were resigned to the oldies circuit. They were good back in the day of Lonesome Dave, who passed long ago. First new album in 7 years, with nostly blues/rock type material which they pull off ok. Just not much new. A couple of tracks I liked, but I'd rather remember the old stuff. Slow ride, take it easy. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - 495 Boogie Best Track - It Hurts Me Too You said you were hurtin', you almost lost your mind, The man you love, he hurts you all the time, When things go wrong, wrong with you, it hurts me too, yeah. He loves another woman, but I love you, But you love him, I don't know what to do, When things go wrong, wrong with you, it hurts me too. You love him more, when you should love him less, Why sneak up behind him and take his mess? When things go wrong, wrong with you, it hurts me too, it hurts me too. Oh, play your heart out. {Rod - Slide Solo - 2 verses} Now he'd better leave you, or you should put him down, I just can't stand to see you pushed around, When things go wrong, wrong with you, it hurts me too, oh yeah. So goodbye baby, I've got to leave you now, I'm gonna pack my bags, and move on down the line, yeah, When things go wrong with you, When things go wrong, so wrong with you, yeah, When things go wrong, wrong with you, It hurts me too, it hurts me too, yeah. 1) Born For The Road - 1.5 - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2emBesvqUIQ 2) Needle & Spoon - 1.0 3) So Many Roads, So Many Trains - 2.0 4) Last Train Home - 1.5 - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6CUd5elrOQ 5) Shake Your Money Maker - 1.0 - live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDgQcw73CX8 6) It Hurts Me Too - 2.0 7) Feel So Bad - 1.5 8) Louisiana Blues - 1.0 9) 495 Boogie - 1.0 10) Rollin' & Tumblin' / You Need Love - 1.5 - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrXvbjuQF8U 11) In My Dreams - 1.5 12) Good Good Day - 1.0 Average Rating - 1.4 What Are You Listening To? - gryphon - 02-07-2010 A good old classic taken off vinyl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 02-07-2010 ![]() Three more live discs from the Dead archives, borrowed from you-know-who. I'd drawn a line under any further live Dead purchases, but this is classic GD, and a complete bargain on Amazon. Sneaks onto the Buy List... What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 03-07-2010 ![]() The Stones close to the top of their game is something to behold... This '69 release sees the transition between Brian Jones - who died before it was released - and Mick Taylor, on guitar. The recent Beatles remasters sound good, but the Stones DSD remasters blow them out of the ballpark... Great record. |
