Yeah, it was funny. I had stumbled upon Gateway about a week or two before Record Store Day and fell in love with "Backwoods Song." It was the only song I could find in its entirety. Then 2 days before RSD I found the entire album on Youtube and loved it. Went to the store not even expecting it to be there and on my last sweep through of the place before checking out I caught "Abercrombie, DeJo" and did a quick double-take and sure enough, there it was. Couldn't turn it down. I'm surprised an album with Abercrombie, Holland, and DeJohnette is so rare and the band so unpopular.

The Clarke album I had decided to listen to a few nights before going in to the store and fell in love with that one as well. I knew it was a classic but I wasn't sure how I felt about it before that listen. I'm not always the biggest fan of bass. But, there's definitely a reason that album's a classic. Saw it sitting there for $4 and there was no way I was going to pass it up.

I think my favorite thing about Spyro Gyra is their consistency. The only album of theirs that I have and find not up to par is "Rites of Summer" and even that album is pretty enjoyable. The store I go to usually has a pretty decent Spyro Gyra collection and the stuff is always marked way, way down. Its nice because their discography is so large that I basically just go in and pick whatever albums have the coolest looking cover/title without even worrying about it. They're really the only band I feel comfortable doing that with. I know whatever I pick up is going to be just as good as the rest of their stuff. With other bands I listen to the stuff online or something and have to debate which album is better, which I'll listen to more, and all that stuff. Spyro Gyra I can just pick up whatever and know it'll get pretty consistent rotation. Smile

Its an interesting store. Some times I go and their jazz collection is incredible, for me. Other times its kind of dry. Definitely got lucky this time as it had a whole slew of stuff I wanted, including some stuff I had to leave because I'm a poor student. Sad

Nokko - Call me Nightlife, released 1993

Bought this album on a good feeling of liking one song and because I found it brand new for just $1
and the seller willing to ship first class for free. Now I'm thinking that I probably won't like the artist
after hearing a few more of her songs but oh well. Still cool to own because I like the cover.

The cool track that I liked - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAw19Y3iPQU

See what you mean ! I do the same thing sometimes,,,buy a cheapo, sometimes they pan out! How about Celine Dion (favourite vocalist), KD Lang, Dido and Bjork? There are many good vocalists around the world as you know, Arctic!
