It was Irma who did the 'original' of Pain in My Heart - Ruler of My Heart.
Mr. Beach's link no longer exists--here's a live version of that great song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kky3BPNG7Jg

Beachy, I couldnt help but think of you when I was researching this guy to write an article on him. At one time he played with Little Feat! Check the boy out and let me know what you think. Smile

Damn fine stuff from a guy few have heard of. Here's a ReverbNation wiki: http://www.last.fm/music/Phil+Brown/+wiki and here's some tunes (his Jimi Project has special merit):

Beach Wrote:Met a beautiful woman and great singer in Goulburn while playing the Australian Blues Music Festival in early February and we became very good friends. Consequently, her producer sent me a copy of her album which I am in the process of attempting to review at present and there's not a bad track on it.[INDENT][Image: pagecolourrun.jpg][INDENT]http://www.myspace.com/pagegail

Samples of some of the album may be heard on her MySpace page and are truly worth the listen.

"I put a Spell on You": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYH3JQ3OT4w << best vocal since CCR's (and that from me is a supreme compliment) with much better band--serious frickin' guitar. She's so hot she makes my teeth sweat. And http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKHUGI_lrJM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBrq1llR054
I couldn't find the album or anything else about her--she still gigging around NSW?

Tiggi Wrote:Karen Dalton - In my Own Time

Karen Dalton was an early contemporary of Bob Dylan's who only released a couple of albums before succumbing to substances, and died a few years ago, virtually homeless.

Seems to be undergoing something of a posthumous revival, and I bought this on the strength of a magazine article about her life.

It's a blend of folk, blues, jazz, & country, and her voice is similar to Billie Holiday's.

Well worth checking out.

Righteous mention. Here's the AMG bio: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/karen-dalton-mn0000299882/biography Here she is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0ZlWK-b_KY and

Agree 100% with that assessment. Probably the best "under-the-radar" sax man of the last 25 years. Here's a bio: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/chris-potter-mn0000114459/biography and a disc review: http://www.allmusic.com/album/follow-the-red-line-live-at-the-village-vanguard-mw0000484830 2 Tunes from it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etAanK-1jP8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa--ZTHRlDE << every disc by him is outstanding and differ from each other yet follow a progression.

Got that stuff straight--"John Zorn" and "accessible" in the same sentence? When he's written a piece with the name" Archaeopteryx"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvjoHgxvyfM << kinda gets back to "JZ Square 1" with that vid

We lost Mr. Byrd last year. This is from his 18th album in 4+ years all in the hard bop idiom (he later turned to jazz-funk, losing his older audience but picking up a much greater crowd in the newer style). http://www.allmusic.com/album/byrd-in-hand-mw0000201255
