What a marvelous CD she did with Robert Plant--he was a model of restraint (I'm forced to reconsider...):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lgzs6pT26KI << rock on with your bad self and then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPlvU1hKb0E << think "Katrina and the next big one" and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgo--jwFi6k << between them, they can call on the best players...and they did...and they shined. and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acX_2zkA0KA << one fine duet. Oh my! and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPggeBUVZmI&index=1&list=RDoPggeBUVZmI << Jools Holland always gets the best

the Alison Krauss/Robert Plant album is very, very good IMO...
Plant certainly shows a 'softer' side to his nature on the album and at times its easy to forget its Robert Plant singing

THE BYRDS "the essential..." cd, 2004
career stats:
studio albums.......12
singles.................29
ep's......................6
a double cd of folk/folk-pop/folk-rock...
this, the Aussie release of the album contains 41 tracks, the American release has 33 tracks, and the UK release has 44 tracks...WTF, how does that work out????
these guys were up there with the best back in the day..
i guess theyre most famous(known for) turning Bob Dylan's folky acoustic tracks into mega mainstream hits...something Dylan could probably had not been able to do with his versions.
its pretty hard to knock these guys IMO, they were part of a culture,a movement and fitted well into the times that-were-a-changing in the mid to late 1960s, but being part of a 'culture' or 'cultural/social movement' does make them a great act by any means...they were simply in the right place at the right time, who just happened to make a dozen or so very good singles as i just found out with this dissapointing scoring compilation set.
im not putting links up here...we all know the Byrds and the songs they were famous for!

It's not easy being old but I am thankful I was around when greats like Patsy Cline first started singing!! Wish she had been with us longer. BTW, love the movie Sweet Dreams!! Jessica Lange did a wonderful job!!
