California girl band formed in 2001 with their second album. Originally 3 of the band members were daughters of music industry veterans. One being the daughter of producer Mitch Froom, another the daughter of Pete Thomas. Yes, it pays to have connections. This is said to be nothing like the first album. Mark Ronson produces this, with a garage band sound that didn't do much for me, only liking two tracks, and I was stretching it.

Art-Rock for the noughties. Like a slightly more sprightly Talking Heads.

Hope of The States - The Lost Riots

This band pinched some Post Rock moves - including a penchant for crescendos of shimmering, shrieking guitars & keyboards - but are actually much closer in substance to the Radioheads, & Coldplays.

Guitarist James Lawrence committed suicide at the studios before the album was completed...

Chicago band formed in 2008 with their debut. allmusic likens them to Arcade Fire and Grizzly Bear. Can't see (hear) either one. A one man project in the making of this, by Jim Cicero, with band members joining later for the recording. Couldn't find anything I liked, ot much to post for that matter.

Formed in California in 2000, now New Yorkers, with their fourth album. A three man lineup after the addition of former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows. More popular in the U.K. where they had a brief run of an MTV program called Steve Wants His Money, said to be coming back with more episodes. First single of Rules Don't Stop was followed by Nice Guys. Nothing here for me.

Brit band formed in 2004 with their second album, this on major label Virgin. Making waves in the U.K. reaching #5 on the charts, but yet to do so here in the states. Toured with Fall Out Boy. Underdog is the single, which was my least favorite, go figure. Not much really bad here, but not much that good either, with only 1 track I can say I liked. Not much variation in the power pop sound, which I guess is good if that's your thing. Only 2 songs broke out of that box, leaving me with that sameness problem I have.

The Jesus & Mary Chain in another guise, with the addition of the Reid Brothers' younger sister, Linda.

This is at the lighter end of the JAMC spectrum, which is no bad thing, and Linda does well with the vocals.

My first regretful purchase in awhile. Went and picked this up after seeing someone here post that they liked it. I think it was Catrina (CMB). What the heck happened to her anyway? We'll have to disagree, as it didn't appeal to me. This is the debut from the U.K. band. Made some waves over there reaching #3 on the charts, but failed to chart in the U.S.
