Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 29-10-2012 A rock anthem of sorts...the choir is great ..I like the song. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 30-10-2012 #478 - Strokes - Last Nite - 2001 running recap for me - 3's=14, 2's=6, 1's=3 this one - *** from the album: Is This It Written by Julian Casablancas Produced by Gordon Raphael Chart action: #14 UK the players: Julian Casablancas – vocals Nikolai Fraiture – bass guitar Albert Hammond, Jr. – guitar Fabrizio Moretti – drums Nick Valensi – guitar Nice surprise this one is. Didn't realize it was that old. Don't have anything by the band but I do love this song. From the groups debut album. It was the second single from the album and didn't even chart here, only showing up in the UK. Once again the Brits get it right. The band has caught on here in the states since this album although I'm not that familiar with their work. Maybe I should be. Lyrics Last night, she said: "Oh, baby, I feel so down. Oh it turns me off, When I feel left out" So I walked out: "Oh, baby, don't care no more I know this for sure, I'm walkin' out that door" Well, I've been in town for just about fifteen minutes now And Baby, I feel so down And I don't know why I keep walkin' for miles See, people they don't understand No, girlfriends, they can't understand Your Grandsons, they won't understand On top of this, I ain't ever gonna understand... Last night, she said: "Oh, baby, don't feel so down. Oh, it turns me off, When I feel left out" So I, I turn 'round: "Oh, baby, gonna be alright" It was a great big lie 'Cause I left that night, yeah Oh, people they don't understand No, girlfriends, they won't understand In spaceships, they won't understand And me, I ain't ever gonna understand... Last night, she said: "Oh, baby, I feel so down. See, it turns me off, When I feel left out" So I, I turn 'round: "Oh, little girl, I don't care no more. I know this for sure, I'm walking out that door," yeah Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-10-2012 i have two strokes albums...very average from memory....best thing about them is the fact that one of their dad's is Albert Hammond Looking Back At Some Classics - TraceNspace - 30-10-2012 The song's OK. Not a huge Strokes fan. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 31-10-2012 #477 - Smiths - How Soon Is Now? - 1985 running recap for me - 3's=14, 2's=7, 1's=3 this one - ** from the album: Meat Is Murder Written by Morrissey, Johnny Marr Produced by John Porter Chart action: #24 UK the players: Morrissey – vocals Johnny Marr – guitars, piano Andy Rourke – bass guitar Mike Joyce – drums Another nice surprise. See, there are some in here. Not a huge fan of this one though. The band yes, just not the song. The Smiths never caught on here with the masses, like in the UK where they ruled. Poor chart showing for this one even over there. Had to do with record company release stuff. This song was originally a b-side and not on an album, then re-released in a shorter version which is the charting single. So there's two different versions out there. I'll post the shorter. Lyrics I am the son and the heir Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar I am the son and heir Of nothing in particular You shut your mouth How can you say I go about things the wrong way I am Human and I need to be loved Just like everybody else does I am the son And the heir Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar I am the son and heir Of nothing in particular You shut your mouth How can you say I go about things the wrong way I am Human and I need to be loved Just like everybody else does There's a club, if you'd like to go You could meet somebody who really loves you So you go, and you stand on your own And you leave on your own And you go home And you cry And you want to die When you say it's gonna happen now, When exactly do you mean? See I've already waited too long And all my hope is gone Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-10-2012 yeh...the long version is monotonous IMO...7 minutes!!!! great band though this one gets ** from me also Looking Back At Some Classics - TraceNspace - 31-10-2012 It's a great song but the most overplayed of anything The Smiths have done. I'm ready for it to disappear for a while so I can enjoy it again some day. Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-10-2012 i like this list MH is doing...some really unusual forgotten tracks on it, i may not like a couple of them, but at least it doesnt contain the same old songs most other lists do!!!! Looking Back At Some Classics - TraceNspace - 31-10-2012 I agree CH. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 31-10-2012 the best part is not knowing what will come up each morning same way I listen to my albums it's like 2 x-mas presents every day |
