UK charts for week ending 28th April: ALBUMS:

While it’s more a triumphant comeback than a tragedy, reformed ‘90s pop icons Steps might be shedding a few Tears on the Dancefloor as Ed Sheeran manages to hold them off in the battle for Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.The group’s first album of all-new material in over 15 years made a valiant effort, an early leader and also securing the most downloaded album of the week in the UK, however Ed pushed ahead toward the end of the week, finishing 16,000 units ahead and pipped Steps on physical copies and streams.

Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May debuts at 5, giving her a third Top 10 with Life Love Flesh Blood, while Texas, led by Sharleen Spiteri, score their eighth Top 10 – Jump On Board is new at 6.
Metalcore band While She Sleeps are new at 8 with You Are We, and alt-rockers Maximo Park are brand new at 11, with Risk To Exist.

Ray Davies' Americana goes in 15, while Steps' 2011 hits retrospective The Ultimate Collection returns to the Top 40, zooming 34 places to 17.
David Bowie scores two new entries thanks to Record Store Day – rare live performance Cracked Actor is in at 20, and remixes of Hunky Dory album tracks Bowpromo lands at 38.
Also new this week are: Barry Manilow's This Is My Town – Songs Of New York (26); country singer Brad Paisley's Love And War (33); Incubus, with 8 (35); and a re-entry from Shawn Mendes, as Illuminate bounds 53 slots to 39.

Australian music charts for week ending 29th April: (singles)

Solidifying its hold on the record for most weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ occupies the #1 spot for a fifteenth week.
Moving up two spots from last week to #4, ‘Symphony’ becomes Clean Bandit’s third top five single, following ‘Rather Be’ (#2 Mar. ’14) and ‘Rockabye’ (#1 Dec. ’16).
Jumping up seven spots to #10, ‘The Cure’ becomes Lady Gaga’s eleventh top ten as a lead artist. It’s also her first top ten appearance since ‘The Edge Of Glory’ (#2 Jul. ’11).
Further down the chart, there’s new peaks this week for Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’ (up four to #17), G-Eazy & Kehlani’s ‘Good Life’ (up eight to #23), Kyle’s ‘iSpy’ (up one to #35), Bliss N Eso’s ‘Moments’ (up six to #37) and Cheat Codes’ ‘No Promises’ (up nine to #41).
Debuts:
#8: Shawn Mendes ‘There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back’ – Canadian artist Shawn Mendes scores his third top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back’. The track comes from the deluxe edition of Mendes’ second album Illuminate (#3 Oct. ’16). He’s previously charted in the top ten with ‘Stitches’ (#4 Dec. ’15) and ‘Treat You Better’ (#4 Jul. ’16)
#26: Luis Fonsi Feat. Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber ‘Despacito’ – With ‘Despacito’, Puerto Rican artist Luis Fonsi makes his ARIA Singles Chart debut. The track was originally released in January but has experienced a surge on the back of a new remix that features Justin Bieber. In English, the word despacito translates to slowly.
#40: Kaleo ‘Way Down We Go’ – After scoring their Albums Chart debut four weeks ago with A / B (#40 May ’17), Icelandic band Kaleo make their first Albums Chart appearance with ‘Way Down We Go’. The track was recently used in the trailers for the film Logan and the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black.
#44: Lana Del Rey Feat. The Weeknd ‘Lust For Life’ – The title track from Lana Del Rey’s forthcoming becomes her second chart entry for 2017. ‘Lust For Life’ follows on from ‘Love’ (#41 Feb. ’17) and features The Weeknd. The two previously worked together on the tracks ‘Party Monster’ and ‘Stargirl Interlude’ on The Weeknd's album Starboy (#1 Dec. ’16).

Ed Sheeran’s ÷ notches up its eighth consecutive week at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
On the back of his promo tour to Australia this week – which included a performance at the Logies – James Blunt’s The Afterlove has jumped from #28 to #9. The album previously peaked at #7.
After two weeks out of the top 50, Tash Sultana’s Notion EP re-enters at #13. It comes as Sultana wraps up a national tour.
Following ANZAC Day, Remembrance picks up a new peak at #14.
With Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 debuting at #3, Awesome Mix Vol. 1 has moves up the chart ten spots to #15.
Debuts:
#2: Amy Shark ‘Night Thinker EP’ – Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark makes her debut on the ARIA Albums Chart with the Night Thinker EP. The six track release features the single ‘Adore’ (#3 Feb. ’17), as well as am appearance by rapper Allday on ‘Worst Girl’.
#3: Soundtrack ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 2’ – The soundtrack to the second film in the Guardians Of The Galaxy series. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 features tracks by the likes of Cheap Trick, Sweet, George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac, Electric Light Orchestra and more. The album is the follow-up to the first film’s soundtrack Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (#2 Aug. ’14).
#6: Allday ‘Speeding’ – The second studio album from Allday gives the Adelaide rapper his second top three debut on the ARIA Albums Chart. Speeding comes three years on from Startup Cult (#3 Jul.’14).
#20: Incubus ‘8’ – American rock band Incubus return with their aptly-titled eighth album, 8. It’s their first album since If Not Now, When? (#10 Jul. ’11) six years ago and sees them working with producer Skrillex on some tracks.
#22: Brad Paisley ‘Love And War’ – Brad Paisley hits the ARIA Albums Chart for the fourth time with Love And War. It’s the country singer-songwriter’s eleventh album and includes performances by Mick Jagger, John Fogerty, Timbaland and more. Paisley last charted with Moonshine In The Trunk (#14 Sept. ’14).
#23: Bad//Dreems ‘Gutful’ – Adelaide’s Bad//Dreems return with second album Gutful. It comes two years on from debut album Dogs At Bay (#33 Aug. ’15).
#24: Xavier Rudd ‘Live In The Netherlands’ – Singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd scores a second Albums Chart entry with a live album, debuting with Live In The Netherlands. The album was recorded on the last night of Rudd’s 2016 European tour in support of Nanna (#8 Mar. ’15). Rudd’s first live album to chart was Good Spirit (#29 Apr. ’05).
#26: While She Sleeps ‘You Are We’ – With their third studio album, British metalcore band While She Sleeps have picked up their debut appearance in the ARIA top 50. You Are We is the follow-up to 2015’s Brainwashed and features Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon on the track ‘Silence Speaks’.
#46: Steps ‘Tears On The Dancefloor’ – British dance-pop group Steps make their comeback with Tears On The Dancefloor. It’s the quintet’s second reformation, having regrouped in 2011-12 and released Light Up the World. Steps’ fifth album is their first to chart in the top 50 in Australia since Steptacular (#25 Nov. ’99).

UK "singles" charts for week ending 5th May:

Congratulations to DJ Khaled, who lands straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart with I’m The One.The track, which features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne, debuts at Number 1 with 5.1 million streams and 23,000 downloads sold this week.
I’m The One is Khaled’s first UK chart-topper; his previous chart peak was at 25 with last summer’s For Free ft. Drake. The track also gives guests Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper and Quavo (from hip hop group Migos) their first UK Number 1, while Justin earns his fifth.
Miami-based Khaled - a DJ, producer and Snapchat extraordinaire - is the first international artist to top the Official Singles Chart in seventh months. Since last September, the top spot has been occupied exclusively by UK acts.

Meanwhile, I’m The One pushes last week’s chart-topper, Clean Bandit’s Symphony ft. Zara Larsson, down to 2 after one week at the top.
New entries and high climbers
Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi vaults 18 places to Number 4 with Despacito (which translates to ‘Slowly’) following the release of a new mix featuring Justin Bieber. The original version has been a hit across the world since its release back in January, topping the charts in over 20 countries.
Hip-hop star French Montana makes a big climb with Unforgettable ft. Swae Lee, up 12 spots to 12 and Cheat Codes’ No Promises ft. Demi Lovato jumps 13 to a new peak at 26.

Further down, three songs make their Top 40 debut this week: Charlie Puth’s Attention zooms from 50 to 31, Kygo’s new Ellie Goulding collaboration First Time is new at 34, and Katy Perry’s brand new track Bon Appetite ft. Migos bows at 40.

Gorillaz claim this week’s highest new entry on the Official Albums Chart, but they haven’t managed to dethrone Ed Sheeran, who bags a ninth week at Number 1 with ÷ .The virtual band’s fifth record and first in six years Humanz debuts at Number 2 to earn them a fourth Top 10 album. Despite outperforming Ed on physical and download platforms this week, Ed’s popularity on streaming services sees his album equivalent sales help him keep hold of the top spot.
÷’s nine-week stint at Number 1 is now Ed’s longest unbroken stint at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart; his second album x (which climbs two places to 8 this week) managed eight weeks at the top when it was released in September 2014 (13 in total).

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human holds firm at Number 3, Tears On The Dancefloor by Steps enjoys a second week in the Top 5 at Number 4, and Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. drops one spot to Number 5.
New entries and high climbers
Irish rock group The Cranberries return with Something Else at Number 18, a collection of re-worked hits from their back catalogue plus an additional three tracks, while Mark Lanegan’s tenth studio album Gargoyle becomes his sixth Top 40 album at 22.

Finally, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe’s Christmas Number 1 album Together vaults 72 places to Number 36 following Michael’s appearance on BBC One’s All Round To Mrs Brown’s, and fresh from her performance on ITV’s Tonight at the London Palladium, Lea Michele scoops her second Top 40 album with Places at Number 37.

There’s a new #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, with American producer DJ Khaled debuting in the top spot with ‘I’m The One’ (see below).
In its second week in the top 50, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despacito’ jumps up 16 spots to #10, cracking the top ten for the first time.
In the week that Bliss N Eso’s sixth album Off The Grid debuts at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, single ‘Moments’ has moved up 12 spots to #25. It becomes the Sydney trio’s highest-charting single, taking over from ‘My Life’ (#26 Feb. ’14).
This week’s chart also includes new peaks for Shawn Mendes’ ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ (up two to #6), Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’ (up three to #14), Kaleo’s ‘Way Down We Go’ (up ten to #30), Kyle’s ‘iSpy’ (up two to #33) and Cheat Codes’ ‘No Promises’ (up five to 36).
Debuts:
#1: DJ Khaled Feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne ‘I'm The One’ – With the second single from his forthcoming tenth album Grateful, American producer DJ Khaled claims his first #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Not only is it his first #1, it’s also DJ Khaled’s first ever top 50 appearance as a lead artist. The track features appearances by Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne.
#29: Kygo & Ellie Goulding ‘First Time’ – Kygo picks up a second Singles Chart entry for 2017 with ‘First Time’. The track sees the Norwegian DJ/producer team up with English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding. Like ‘It Ain’t Me’ (#4 Mar. ’17), ‘First Time’ comes from Kygo’s forthcoming second album.
#35: Katy Perry Feat. Migos ‘Bon Appétit’ – Following on from ‘Chained To the Rhythm’ (#4 Feb. ’17), Katy Perry releases her forthcoming album’s second single, ‘Bon Appétit’. It’s Perry’s 20th top 50 entry as a lead artist. The track features hip hop trio Migos, who previously charted with ‘Bad and Boujee’ (#34 Jan. ’17).
#41: Charlie Puth ‘Attention’ – American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth picks up his fourth top 50 entry as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Attention’. The single is the first to come from Puth’s forthcoming second album. His highest peak to date was with ‘One Call Away’ (#3 Feb. ’16).

After eight straight weeks at #1, Ed Sheeran has been knocked off the #1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart by Sydney’s Bliss N Eso, who become the fifth Australian act to top the ARIA Albums Chart in 2017 with their sixth album, Off The Grid (see below).
With Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 still at #3, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 jumps back into the top ten at #8.
As Bruno Mars announces his national tour for March 2018, 24K Magic moves up 21 spots to #10.
There have also been big moves this week for Aled Jones’ One Voice (up 25 to #13), Keith Urban’s Ripcord (up seven to #20) and The Ten Tenors’ Wish You Were Here (up 20 to #29).
Debuts:
#1: Bliss N Eso ‘Off The Grid’ – With their sixth studio album, Sydney hip hop trio Bliss N Eso have scored their third #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Off The Grid is the follow-up to Circus In The Sky (#1 Jul. ’13) and includes the singles ‘Dopamine’ (#38 Oct. ’16) and ‘Moments’ (#25 May ’17). Bliss N Eso first topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Running On Air (#1 Aug. ’10).
#4: Gorillaz ‘Humanz’ – Virtual band Gorillaz re-emerge for the first time since 2011 with Humanz. The group’s fifth album features a host of guests including Grace Jones, Mavis Staples, Danny Brown, De La Soul, Pusha T, Noel Gallagher and Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn. Gorillaz last charted with The Fall (#41 Apr. ’11) and previously topped the Albums Chart with Plastic Beach (#1 Mar. ’10).
#6: Adam Harvey & Beccy Cole ‘The Great Country Songbook Vol. II’ – Australian country stars Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole team up for duets album The Great Country Songbook Vol. II. The duo covers country favourites including ‘Jackson’. ‘If I Were A Carpenter’ and ‘Islands In The Stream’. The original Great Country Songbook was released by Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley. It peaked at #2 in June 2013.
#25: Lea Michele ‘Places’ – Former Glee star Lea Michele returns with Places. It’s the singer/actor’s her second solo album, following on from Louder (#4 Mar. ’14).
#28: CDB ‘Tailored For Now - Eleven R&B Super Jams’ – Melbourne R&B group CDB release their first studio album in 20 years, Tailored For Now. The album includes the quartet’s take on tracks by the likes of Bobby Brown, R Kelly, Montell Jordan, Keith Sweat and more. CDB last charted with Lifted (#45 Nov. ’97).
#30: Tim Rogers ‘An Actor Repairs’ – You Am I front man Tim Rogers goes solo for a sixth time with An Actor Repairs. Since the release of fifth album Rogers Plays Rogerstein (#45 Sept. ’12), Rogers has also charted with his collaboration with The Bamboos, The Rules Of Attraction (#26 Jun. ’15), and with You Am I’s tenth album Porridge & Hotsauce (#20 Nov. ’15).
#31: Bee Gees ‘Timeless: The All-Time Greatest Hits’ – A new 21-track compilation bringing together some of the greatest tracks recorded by the brothers Gibb. Timeless spans the trio’s career from 1966’s ‘Spicks And Specks’ to ‘You Win Again’ (#10 Nov. ’87).
#36: New Found Glory ‘Makes Me Sick’ – With their ninth studio album, American pop punk band New Found Glory have scored their seventh top 50 entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. Makes Me Sick comes three years on from Resurrection (#33 Oct. ’14). The album’s release comes as the band celebrate their 20th anniversary.
#37: Various Artists ‘Eurovision Song Contest 2017 Kyiv’ – This album brings together the 42 entries of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The 62nd edition of Eurovision will be held in Kyiv, Ukraine between 9 and 13 May. Australia will be represented by Isaiah Firebrace, who’ll sing the track ‘Don’t Come Easy’. Eurovision Song Contest Stockholm 2016 peaked at #9 in May last year.
#38: Willie Nelson ‘God's Problem Child’ – Country legend Willie Nelson releases his 61st studio album, God's Problem Child. The album gives Nelson his first appearance in the top 50 of the ARIA Albums Chart since Legend: The Best Of Willie Nelson (#49 May ’08). It’s Nelson’s first album of new material to chart in the top 50 since Moonlight Becomes You (#20 Apr. ’94).
#45: Airling ‘Hard To Sleep, Easy To Dream’ – Airling is the moniker of Brisbane artist Hannah Shepherd. Debut album Hard To Sleep, Easy To Dream was produced by Big Scary’s Tom Iansek.
