Nat King Cole was born in 1919, and Andrew Hozier-Byrne ‘Hozier’ in 1990 – pretty much at opposite ends of the last century. They’re just two of quite a few musicians born on this day.

My pick is Mike Lindup, born 17 March 1959, in London, England - keyboardist and falsetto vocalist for Level 42 – that voice went some way in contributing to their distinctive sound. He has two solo albums, and I see he’s on Phil Gould’s Watertight, which I haven’t heard yet.

Eric Woolfson – born 18 March 1945 in Glascow, died 02 December 2009 of kidney cancer. He was a co-creator of The Alan Parsons Project and aside from the ten APP albums he was integral to, afterwards had his own very successful career in musical theatre, penning 5 musicals in all. He wrote, produced, sang, and played keyboards/piano. I remember reading in the liner notes of Turn of a Friendly Card, (APP’s fifth album) that this was the first time it was agreed (somewhat reluctantly on AP's part if I recall correctly) that Woolfson should take a lead vocal role. It worked out pretty well IMHO.
