I've heard a few Kyuss song and I like them. I also tried out Neurosis a while back but was never conclusive. I might try them out again. I like Isis, but I guess they're more like "sludge" or what have you... And Melvins are cool too, but again... Probably a stretch to call them stoner/doom metal.

Boris is imho the best stoner/sludge/stoner sludge (whatever) band out there but Kyuss or Fu Manchu aren't bad either. Boris also collaborated with Sunn O))) or Merzbow or Keiji Haino (etc. etc.) which makes them even more awesome.

I just can't keep up with all the terms they invent to describe bands.
Would someone please explain what the term means you are using in this post.

I'm not sure if they fall into the subgenre, but Sunn 0))) is playing here on Saturday. I really want to see them but I'm poor right now and I doubt I can drag my girlfriend there.

Stoner Rock/Metal refers to bands who play in style similar to that of black sabbath as in it is heavily distorted and has a classic sound.

My God, you don't have any clue, do you? Black Sabbath is NWOBHM, idiot. If anything descended from Sabbath, it'd be Sludge.
"Stoner whatever" is a mix of psychedelic rock, hard rock and blues rock and doom metal. Also has some kind of southern rock to it.
The word Stoner is a slang term for someone who smokes weed.
