The obvious thread.
So which albums are your favourites?
I think most of their albums are great (with only Confrontation being patchy) but my favourites are Survival (love "So Much Trouble in the World and the title track in particular), Burnin', (the first half is great, but the second half manages to stand up in comparsion surprisingly well) and African Herbsman (compilation that collects two discs of the stuff Bob & co recorded with Lee Scratch Perry, including early versions of "Sun is Shining" and "Kaya")
The other obvious question is, do you prefer Bob Marley with Bunny Wailer and Pete Tosh, or when he was writing solo? Why?
Although the answer might seem reasonably obvious at first glance (3 great writers versus one?), it is true that Marley wrote a fair amount of the his most well-known and celebrated stuff after Wailer & Tosh left. Although the original Wailers were more interesting and diverse, Marley solo was a much better writer of catchy, poppy reggae.

Exodus is the obvious choice for me. May not be the connoiseur's choice, but I think it's an excellent collection of songs.
Also have a soft spot for Soul Rebels, which is a very early Scratch production (don't know if any of this is on African herbsman). Over-powering bass, and raw talent.
So, I've no preference for Wailers / Post-Wailers material...
I also love Tosh's solo work, especially his live-in-the-US release Captured Live (although for some reason this release suffers from poor reviews).

I love Bob Marley, although I only have a few Best Of - compilation cds. Every song is good though. I especially like Redemption Song, Three Little Birds, and Buffalo Soldier!

i have to go with lostgoldrecords on this one. those are deffinately my favorite three songs... i don't have any albums, just what i can scratch up from friends' and family's library on their computer... it just happens that most of my friends are only into rock and my family is against anything that has 'herb' in it so i have very little of his stuff.:frown:

awesome! Yeah I feel like each of those three songs is not too pop-y and also has a slightly different Bob Marley "flavor" to it.

I've seen The Wailers with Ziggy Marley in concert twice opening for 311...they play with a lot of emotion and put on a great show, i would have loved to have seen them when they were still fronted by Bob. Their set can get a little repetitive, though, unless your a hardcore fan.
