Default My Review Of Decending Shadows By Pierced Arrows

Took me a little while to get into this one………..to start with I thought we were into a heavy metal album but as I advanced into the album my opinion began to change : I began to warm to the band…..At ‘ “Ain`t Life Strange “ , I was enjoying what I was hearing. “Paranoia” was a good slice of music which made me recall one or two Alice Cooper tracks, .some good fuzz guitar work here too!”Tripped out” shows that a the Pierced Arrows can groove as well as rock. “Let It Rain” shows a slightly gentler side even though the fuzz and drum combination is still there to underpin the song.
“Zip My Lip” could have been a great punk anthem if it had been released in the late seventies, there are some echoes of the Dammed here.
The final track is fascinating , the format seems like a slow waltz and reminded me at times of “Wonderful Tonight “ by Eric Clapton.
Overall this is a good album and I enjoyed every minute
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
    It's the strangest elation
    I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
    It makes a man frown.

Wow! garage punk at it's finest. Not great but the raw edge of this just drew me in. Three members of husband and wife team plus a drummer and you can tell the husband and wife have been through the grindstone. First I've heard them and always like to think of sounds likes even though I have to reach. Pussy Galore, Flamin' Groovies and even MC5 come to mind with a light touch of very early Pere Ube. Ain't Life Strange and Coming Down To Earth were the best for me, with On Our Way and This Is The Day the low points. The roughness and simplicity of the music and the fact that you can get that much volume out of that small group is always interesting. Let's face it, these guys can't sing but that's not what this type of music is about. The vocals are so distinctive that they suck you in. Not sure that I would buy this but it was a fun experience.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please

Not a fan of this one at all. I didn't like the dragged out tempo, in fact when the pace started to pick up on Paranoia, I thought it was noticably better.
Didn't like the singing,it was so monotone, lyrics were unremarkable. I have to say I thought it was dreary rather than raw.

Don't doubt their sincerity and I can see why some people would like this but not my taste at all.
