Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
    It's the strangest elation
    I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
    It makes a man frown.

Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please

Default Gryphon`s Review Of Album Number Two

Texas born Rocky Votolatao is an ex-member of the band Waxwing . In 1999 he decided to go solo and true devotion is his ninth solo effort.
This singer song writer relies mostly on his acoustic guitar effort to propel this album along, and in doing so may have limited his appeal just a tad : there is production based support on occasion to assist with the expression of his songs but, I don’t feel that he manages to break much new ground .
The lyrics are reflections of his life experiences and show competence within his art and reflect something of his Texan roots but, I can’t help feeling that he left is soul on the sidelines when writing, as much of the content lacks true passion to me I feel he is going through the motions of song writing ...................there are a few exceptions Red River is one, sun devil another , here he does get to grips with a good hook and meaningful lyrics ..............but this is not always the case., during the album.
Overall , a nice album with some good guitar work, but not one I’m likely to wear out with playing.
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

Not too shabby, not great either. Nice folkie sound, but almost too laid back. Sounds likes going back aways to early Don McLean and more recent Conor Oberst is definitely there, maybe Damien Rice. Nothing really sticks. Liked Sparklers and Sun Devil the best. Red River could have ranked there till the chorus kicked in. Lyrically I thought it was pretty strong from the story telling aspect. Just too quiet on the instruments. It will be pretty far down on my buy list. I will rate each song again on a 1 to 3, but scale it back this time.

    Lucky Clover Coin - 2
    Fragments - 2
    Red River - 2
    Eyes Like Static - 1
    Sparklers - 3
    Instrument - 2
What Waited For Me - 2
    Sun Devil - 3
    Don't Be Angry - 1
    Where We Started - 2
