Who is the best rapper alive?

I wouldn't put Snoop in the same league with Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem. Those three are certainly the best working rappers today. At least those with wide-spread exposure. For me, its really a toss-up between Jay-Z and Nas. I went with Jay-Z, mostly for 99 Problems. Nas hasn't done anything recently that's caught my attention quite like that record.

Actually I kinda like Snoop Dogg. Stuff from the 90's was best, can't say much about any recent tunes. But I wouldn't vote him as best rapper.

nas is really good, but for best rapper alive i dont know how krs-one didnt make the list.. the guy can freestyle around any rapper that ever has and ever will live =)

For anyone discussing the poll options, surely that is why there is an 'other' category?

I'm going to have to go with Rakim. I can sum up my reason from quoting his wiki article tbh.

"Many rappers in the community cite Rakim as one of the greatest rappers ever, and is mostly known for using intricate, seemingly effortless rhyming schemes."
